Some more information about Loring for those Z owners who want to go really fast.
This is additional supplement of the meet, photos, videos from HRM. Hotrod Magazine featured the event this month. Check it out.

Wow ~ a few of those go-fast cars look hauntingly familiar from my youth, when HotRod Magazine covered the National Speed Trials at Bonneville each year. I kept searching these photos for a certain 500mph aircraft drop-tank on wheels, which I used to love when I was a kid.

Think of the differences btwn Maine and the Salt Flats ~ tuning your entire car for much cooler air, running new tires for pavement instead of for salt, and worrying about hitting BUGS and MOOSE at 200mph!

He guys,

There is more of our story and soon to come an in car camera ride on the qualifying run at Bonneville. Go to http://www.rebelloracing.com/ to see more of our story and video. I am not sure if the video is up yet but it should be soon. I am not in charge of computer things.....

Thanks
Burton

Mike, please keep me in mind if you do replace the present front
spoiler w/a BRE ducted model. I broke the front spoiler on the '70 Z a
long time ago and never did anything about repairing or replacing it due
to the long hibernation of our cars.

If I buy yours, I may play around with the broken one from the Z, to
modify it to fit the 510. I modified a one-piece 240Z rear spoiler to fit
the 510 and it looks nice; maybe I could do the same to the front.

Rick I'll give it to you. I'm working on buying front and rear spoiler from Irv.

He guys and gals,

The story and video from our qualifying run is now up on the Rebello Racing site.

The link is http://www.rebelloracing.com/index.htm

Thanks

Burton

P.S. This racing thing is way too addictive.....we are already working on improvements (we hope) for next year. I should know that after 25 years of circle track racing. The problem with Bonneville is you have too much time between races to think about it!

Wow, that sounds sweet!

I didn't get much perception of speed, except for the mile markers flying by. I'm really looking fwd to you trying that hood trick and comparing your MPH to the RPM before and after.

I got the funniest thought while watching you ~ why do you need a rearview mirror? NOBODY's gonna catch you!

Me, too, Frank. I was thinking: at that speed, instead of using leather
straps to hold the hood DOWN as certain cars of other origin used to do,
it might be necessary to install shims to hold it UP so it wouldn't close
again from the air pressure.

Because there are other classes?
They tell me the police cars at Bonneville are jet powered..............
(Ala Arfons, Breedlove, etc.)

And I also learned I don't know how to make sequential quotes in the
same post, but I am going to send it anyway......................

It may seem like I am looking up quite frequently to the mirror. What I am really doing is looking at the Air/Fuel meter that is strapped on top of the tach.
I know you can't really read either of these (tach or AF). Steve (Dave Rebello's web guy) informed me that because of how bright it is outside, the camera has to adjust to that. The other thing is there is window tint on both sides of the rest of the glass (per rules).

THe rear view is nice when girl watching out the back!

Girl spotting in a rearview mirror at 170mph+! Beware, speed is kind of like beer, the more you have, the better they look.
