this is why it feels great owning a Z. one my way into work i was at a stop light, i hear someone yelling to me i turn and it's the guy next to me asking " what year is that? " i said 78 and he said "i had the same one years ago these cars are so cool" of course my baby had to take off quick from the stop light to "show off" she always does that after hearing a compliment. i just hope it doesn't go to her cylinder head...

SometimeZ at the gas pump someone will simply say admiringly "Nice" or "What is that?" I either respond with a Thanks or That's a 17 year old Z.

I get that stuff every time I take my Z out. Somebody always has a comment or the thumbs-up for the car.

Rick got tired of answering the same questions years ago, so he solved it with a license plate: "ITSAZ". 8)

I get the same here. Only there are very few Z's in my area . Only 1 driveable z, three 280zxs, 2 300zxs and a couple 350zs.
I get a real kick out of when I'm working on my zx in the driveway and the neighborhood kids walk by and stop and stare. It usually starts with 2 or 3 and in an hour it's 8 or 10. One of them always gets the courage up to ask what kind of car it is.

Somebody in here last year said when he was driving his 240, and some gal asked what it was, he told her, "it's a Ferrari". :D

Well, that could actually be sort of a true statement......years ago you could buy the Ferrari 250gt body kit for your S30.

yeah here some people think the best asset of an old z is that it serves as a base for a ferrari replica. but that's total bsht. there are a lot of people who really admire the z. yestrdy i took mine for a test drive after adjusting the carb and going around this roundabout people smiled and seemed impressed. I got back and suddenly there is this helicopter above me so close to the ground the whole place was shaking. we never have helicopters come that close and they have no reason to, so I like to think the noise of my z got their attention when they were flying and they wanted to see if it's a fellow helicopter.. which is funny because I took a short video a while ago of my z with engine running and everybody who's seen it says it sounds like a helicopter. :D
I'll try to upload that vid onto youtube for you to see..

yeah it did seem like that. I'm somewhat flabbergasted about that copter myself. maybe it was a male copter who's been around before. who knows what my Z does in the night. she's quite a package and it wouldn't surprise me if she transformed into some kind of copter - robot hybrid (Zobot ?) by night.. her voice when she speaks definitely has an eery copter like tone to it.
