While studying Z history every time I'm stumbling when I see pics of the so called Plan C (A Concept with Retractable Headlights) from 1966. It has a world class aerodynamic styling, it's the most sporty looking Z concept of the mid 60s. Does someone know what happened to this prototype? Are there existing pics of the front/rear?

That is a very nice clear photograph you have Thorsten! That is clay model study C2 from May-June 1966. It features the "Targa" top design. Clay model study C1 was a full convertable. These were clay model design studies and not anything close to an actual car. I included a photo of the modelling process.

 Wow!

Thanks Chris.

That model reminds me of other cars. I have to squint my eyes to see how it became a Z. A lot of other Japanese names flash thru my head when I look at it, especially with the pop-up headlamps.
