Vinny Bedini’s Most Excellent Day Off.

7/2/10 - Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, CT.
Vinny took a day off Friday to head up to the LRP Nascar event to hang out with the guys on the #2 Whelen Modified, nice! The driver of the #2 car, Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield, CT., had the second fastest time in the session, then the motor developed a major problem.
Sooo it was time for an engine transplant from the backup car, which was an oval track car. Like a team of doctors the crew went to work removing engines and swapping in the donor motor. It was controlled mayhem as the crews performed the operation, a Nascar paddock is just a crazy place anyway. Our Vinny was in the thick of it, wrenching like he was back at the shop, so much for a day off.
They missed the second practice session, but got it all buttoned up to be the last one thru tech before qualifing.
A couple of hours of REALLY hard work…LAST qualifying group…
ON THE POLE…PRICELESS!

Todd’s :53.099 edged Ted Christopher’s :53.220 for pole.
Incredible action on the track, way too many photos to post.
Attached some photos from Friday.
I think I was the only Z in attendance.
Colin, the older one

Oh, THAT figures! We've been pushing Vinny to take a day off for months ~ he keeps crying he has too much work to do, to take any time to enjoy himself.

So he finally takes a day and goes to the races to relax and what happens?? He ends up WORKING again!

Well, it speaks volumes to me that he was involved with the only Ford in a field of Chevys and Ponchos, and took the Pole and second place overall. With 13 cars finishing the final lap, the competition must have been stiff.

Congratulations, Vinny ~ nice way to spend your only day off in 3 months! No more chances to relax ~ Now get back to work!

Frank
