just thought i would share that my Z has gone over 1,000 miles so far since i have gotten it back on the road. i felt really proud to see that. of course it has had it's problems but has still been a blast to drive.

A milestone!

You will have many more. The first one is most-significant. I keep a detailed diary of the mileage put on my 240Z since the total rebuild (3,340 now), disregarding the 124,000 miles it had prior to being rescued. I consider it a 'new' 240Z.

I suspect when Dan Linquist, Robin Foote, Jim Arnett and Thorsten Link finish their carz, they too will keep daily diaries of the miles and events they experience. I'm sure Dave Russell and John Taddonio already have such a log, altho they've never mentioned it.

Ain't it strange, the relationship we build with these cars?

Keep Z-ing!

yeah i am very attached to my Z more so than my previous one. i think because this was a rescue. the whole fact it was just sitting there collecting dust, mildew, insects, rust, etc etc and i got her actually going through the gears on the road is just awesome. everytime i drive i feel proud. and since this car hasn't zeen the road in i don't know how many years 1,000 miles is a lot for this girl.

Just like rescuing an abandoned puppy from a Rescue organization. It
goes from unloved, unkempt, and bedraggled to being a wonderful and
faithful companion with a bright countenance and a great future!

BTW just 27,700 more miles and she will catch up to #171!

That's simply astounding ~ a 40 year old car with fewer than 30,000 original miles on it ! I used to put nearly that much on my Z every two years!

Our once, stray cat, which we rescued from certain death when she was about one year old, has been the most amazing pet for the past 15 years. I firmly believe you get out what you put in. I'm not talking $$$ here; more like carma and catma.

Congrats on the journey!

I agree, Love your Z and it will love you back. I swear to this, I see people with dirty cars, full of crud and they don't take care of them......well they always have issues and breakdowns and such. (Just me thinkin out loud.)

I agree paul. Know whats sad is my Z has no engine in it ( at the time! ) but I got it in the garage and waxed it last fall. Is that strange, waxing a car that has no engine.

While I was building my Z it didn't run for months. During this time I bought several aesthetic bits to go on it that did absolutely nothing to help me get the car ready to drive. But they looked nice and made me happy. Waxing... yeah, that might be a bit far. Especially before a potentially paint scratching engine install.
