It was beautiful day Friday, took Colin's Z for a ride up to the VSCCA meet at Lime Rock. Rt 7 from Kent to LRP is incredible at this time of year.
Interesting field of cars, ranging from early Indy cars to sports cars. How about a polished aluminum Aston Martin, blinding!
A few photos attached.
Colin, the older one.

Oooooooooooohhh.....yes.

That Aston Martin is a copy of the DB4GT Zagato. Newport Pagnell only made 75 GTs (1959-63) and Zagato only bodied 19 of them. The originals are priceless today. Even copies like this one go for about 1/2 million dollars.

With about 315bhp, these cars beat the Ferraris of the day in numerous road races (when a 'road race' connected several European cities or covered several days of track). It's major flaw was the gearbox.

Sorry to run off at the mouth like that  . It's just that these are my all-time favorite race cars in history.

Thanks for that. Beautiful shots.

Really Great Pictures - thanks for Posting them for us to enjoy.

That E-Type looks very 50's/60's in its somewhat bulbous but flowing lines. The Z looks far more 70's to modern day. Both with the Classic Coke Bottle {female} body lines... I personally feel that the Z is far more refined and unlikely to look so "dated" in the future.

The 275 GTB Ferrari is likewise of timeless beauty... The only cars being currently produced that attract me are the Aston-Martins...

FWIW,
Carl B.

And this was the "standard" DB4GT (if that word could ever be applied to an Aston). It was considered the spaceship of it's day. Beat Maseratis, Lamborghinis and Ferraris for years after they stopped making them.

A true roadrocket, worthy of praise. The Zagato was even better!

I love Astons. But I can't afford 'em, can't fix 'em and can't insure them. I would be scared to death to drive one in today's traffic ~ too many Soccer Moms talking on cellphones, reading school notes and putting on makeup.

Did you ever hear about the DB4 Jet Bertone? It's a beautiful version of the DB4, a prototype, won the concorso d'eleganza at lake como, italy. Owner is a pharmacist from switzerland. I had the pleasure to see the Aston a few years ago. Admirable car, isn't it?

Hello Thor:
Beautiful car - I don't recall ever seeing pictures of it. If you didn't tell me it was an Aston, I'd have guessed it was a Ferrari. The front end is very "Ferrari" like...

Great pictures nonetheless..

Gorgeous. It hints of the the later Bertone Alfa Romeo Montreal.

The Bertone body looks lighter than the Zagato, altho they are (were) the same car.

It's strange how a design can make a car appear 'heavy' or 'light' ~ such as the "Superleicht" Mercedes Benz 300SL, which appeared very heavy but was actually quite light weight, or the "Superleggara" Italian cars which also looked heavier than they were.

I'm very glad the Jet was left-hand drive. That means I might still have a chance to own it here someday!

Some more LRP photos, cockpits and motors. All variations on how to go faster! I never did see the shiny Aston Martin run, from what I understand it "done blowed up" before I got there.
