Well I have been driving my silver Z for about 20+ years now and have never been pulled over. Yesterday, about 30 miles into the newly built red 240Z, I get chased down by a trooper. He was passing in the opposite direction on a 40mph two lane road. He went out of sight and made a u-turn, he then gunned it and caught up to me, throwing on the full set of lights about 1 foot off my rear bumper. I had been speeding, a little. Not by much or so I thought. He was very polite, as was I, of course. He asked if I knew the speed limit, I said I think it's 40 here. He said I was doing 71! I said I don't think so trooper, I just built this car and I don't even know if the speedo is accurate. He said he was doing 60 and wasn't gaining on me. I wanted to say duh, I had at least a half mile on you before you turned around. But I didn't. He must have hit 80 to catch me. That doesn't mean I was doing 72, but whatever... maybe he had radar. Anyhow, he just looked at my temporary inspection and said it was good, he took my license as a routine check, gave it back, and said to have a good day. I thanked him and said, I'll get the speedometer calibrated, sir. He was very nice about the whole thing.

Red attracts bees!

I thought Yellow attrcted bees...LOL

Sorry to hear that your Z ride was delayed by the officer. It could have been worse. Were there any comments on the Z made? ie. he had one years ago...

He was about my age so he probably new what the car was. There are no badges on the car now. He didn't make any comments about the car other than asking if the speedometer works.

Since then, I took my GPS unit in the car and found out that the speedo is reading 50 when the GPS reads 49. Not bad. Now, I just need to pay attention to the speed signs and the speedometer! Sorry, I can't focus over the sound of the Webers.

I just remembered that I did get pulled over in the Silver car once. 50 in a 40. It was a young officer that had no idea what the car was. He let me go and said: "Take it easy in your Datsu". In NY, the registration tag only carries the first five letters of the make. I almost burst out laughing. DAT-SOO

I got pulled over once few years ago, not with Z but with -81 150Y (wich was popular family car here back in 80's)

I was turning left and in the same intersection there was police car turning right. Well after light changed i turned but then the carburator had some problems and car stutters a little. Those cops instantly turn their car and hit the lights. They tought that i was driving drunk :P

Well after driving my red 350 Z for two years now I can say that my initial worries about attracting the wrong kind of attention have been eased. I've only been pulled over once, a week after buying the car. But that was my fault because I did not see a "no turn on red" sign. The officer admired the car, told me to be more careful and let me go with a warning. Since then no problems...knock on wood.

Right. Red cars do not attract police.
Bad drivers attract police.

I"m guessing red cars make police take notice of the driver's actions ....

Zman, that's because they frequent this web site and know your Z is limited to < 3,000 RPM at the moment. Just wait....

I wish they were attracted to bad drivers. I would feel safer on the roads. In all actuality, I think they are attracted to green...and I don't mean Earth Day green.

Being pulled over was a pretty common occurrence "back in the day,"
when you only saw about one or two Z's on the roads per week, if that.
Had that happen more than once, for sure.

One such pull-over eventuated in a sale, when I was in sales w/Bob
Sharp; so it was well worth the few minutes' delay and being courteous
to the gentleman. Not that I wouldn't have been courteous anyway!
You never know.
