Yup! That's the voice of Highway Authority!

I'm really glad you have this neat old car running so well again. Think about how long it sat, longing for the road again, waiting for someone to come along and save it!

Thanks Frank yeah it makes me happy to know I saved a Z from the crusher. She is reborn! I think I will name her phoenix.

I think you ought to call her Sleeping Beauty ~ she waited dormant all that time for her Prince to come along and rescue her.

(Altho I wouldn't actually describe what you're doing to her as a "kiss") 8)

It gives me joy to see my old setup being put to good use, even better is that you enjoy them! :)

I definitely enjoy them and I see what you mean about the sound. Hey what size is the y pipe I need to just clamp that. 2 1/2?

Yea, a 240 just needs a good sounding exhaust, it does it justice. Well so far my home made one sounds great, and just doing some finishing touches. Starts with a 6-1 header cut to now be a 6-2, 45 degree bend peices, 18" straight pipes,(that can be bent slightly with the torch,)) 90 degree bend peices, 2 glass packs, and looking for some niice baffled finishing ends. Lots of clamps as well, that when done will weld and get rid of. Leave bolted to the header for removal if necassary. Before the G packs it's 2" then after is 2 1/4" Something different, but sounds good and all is tight. :D

The Twice Pipes are 1.7" ID. The original ANSA exhaust system (which I was trying to duplicate) (or replicate) was 1.5" ID. The Twice Pipes give a slightly deeper rumble than the ANSAs had, but it still sounds better than any other twin system available today (in my HUMBLE opinion ) .

2" clamps should do it anywhere along the system.

Actually the Y pipe is a much larger diameter, if he's talking about there it connects to the header area. That's done with ~2 1/2" clamps. I don't remember exactly off the top of my head, but when I clamped mine it was actually just outside of advance auto Wallingford/North Haven in the parking lot. They let me try each clamp to see which one would fit before I bought it. Nice guys.

Edit: Buuuuut.... If I were to do it again, I'd weld the Y pipe to the header. I hated that thing, always slipping off until I really cranked the clamps on and squished the pipe.

No I'm talking about the other end of the y pipe. Trust me I heated up the 2 ends which are 2 inch and made sure they were not coming off. I thought the other end was 3 inch but found out it was not. And it's not 2 so I'm assuming 2 1/2.
