HI Guys:
For the History Buff's - - if you have an endless desire to know more about the events that are tangent to the "History Of Nissan Motors" - -- - This may be of interest, if only as a matter of Trivia..

Wiliam Gorham, and American Engineer actually designed the first car to carry the "Datson", "Datsun" brand name. Before 1933 it was the Practical Motor Car Company that produced the Lila {Gorham's wife's name}. Of course Mr. Gorham did FAR more than that for Nissan...

The First car to bare the "Nissan" name, was actually a re-badged Graham-Paige Crusader. Nissan bought the design, the production plant equipment, the assembly line, all tooling and moved it to Japan in 1937. They also bought the six cylinder engine and new truck design by Graham-Paige {which became their first truck and their first bus}. Engineers from G.P. along with engineers from some of GP suppliers also were hired to come to Japan and teach the Nissan employees how to produce the car and the engine...

Now - here is the trivia side trip... Just in case you want to know more about who the Graham Brothers were - - and what happened..... think Dodge Truck and Madison Square Garden...think of the first glass bottles.... It's a bit long but an interesting story if you have a half hour to kill...
See: The Graham Brothers and their Car:

I copied the text from the web page above - then pasted it into a Word document - so I could read it. I hate background's on Web Pages that make your eyes blury...

Something to do when your snowed in....,

For some reason - the "preview" function is screwed up and I can't upload a second picture.. here
Carl

Because of a file name problem - I could not add a second picture above. Here is the 1937 Nissan...

FWIW,
