I have finally started to take #1905 apart. Just in the first day, I came across a few parts that I have not seen before and/or read about here on classic. So I guess I can add some kind of timeline or history on our Z cars.
A recap, this car is a 2/1970 car all original down to the sparkplugs dated in 69.

First item is a shield that is on both seats. I heard there is no part number for this part and I wasn't sure what we really call it?

Also these hooks that are on the seats, are there two versions of these?

Second item is a "solid chrome Z" on the pillar emblem. Top one is from my #1905 car and the bottom from a 6/70 car I parted a few months ago...both metal.

Last item for now, spare tire.

There a few other items I will post and comment about later.

Jimbo Frederick is very familiar with those seat buffers, and asked me to check #13 to zee if they were on it. They weren't, but it looked as if they had been and got removed. My April 70 car didn't have them.

Those seatbelt hooks were standard on the earliest 240Zs. My April car had them, even tho it never had seatbelts!

That spare is remarkable, huh? It should be a collector's item, and I know at least two RI members who were looking for a good one this past summer. They wanted the original steelie wheel. I have the unused original spare from the '71 Club partz car, with 41 year-old air still in it!

The 240Z "wings" were first solid, then had white enamel painted into the "Z" by the time I got mine. All the first 500+ cars had those solid wings. They will be valuable to owners of the lowest VIN cars, since they are all but unobtainable today.

You know it's killing me that you're parting this out, right?

I guess I should buy your wsw motor as long as you're pulling it apart.

Frank

Frank, I am not parting the car out like a parts car. I am just going to sell of parts I know can help other guys with their resto jobs. I am going to keep all the original metal emblems. They will cost about $100 each to have restore but I don't care. I want the car to remain as original looking as possible. I am even thinking of getting rid of the nose of the car. Great for someone with a low vin car.

I wish the PO still had the keys, hubcaps and steel wheels for this car. I will call the daughter again next month. I would like to speak to her father and hear the story from him first hand.

Check with Jimbo and zee if he's still looking for the 1970 inspection lids. He also had a guy down there looking to buy a 1970 car recently.

I emailed him and showed him the thread.

Here is a link to classiczcar....good amount of early car info there:
http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/show ... adid=36992

I know some of these guys awhile and it is great to see them spit the history off.

Hi, Clive, Rick here.

As soon as I can arrange an appointment w/Vinnie B I hope to bring the
Pathfinder with trailer to pick up the ZX. The ZX would be dropped off
at Vinnie's, and the Pathfinder will come home loaded w/parts for the
possible resto of the '70, and/or upgrading of the '69s.

Speaking of that, I still have our "laundry list;" do you still have it, or
shall I retransmit?-- I noticed the seats w/hardware are displayed above
but have already been spoken for.

BTW the little hooks 2/3 of the way up the side of the seatback are to
hang the seat/shoulder belts on so they wouldn't get caught in the door
when exiting the car, since there were no retractors on the early cars.

Happy New Year and All Z Best,.................Kathy & Rick
