Post subject: | My Trip to Z MECCA |
Last week I went to Florida for a week or so and gave Jim, owner of all the cars below a call to stop by and check out his garage. If you are ever in the Tampa area or within driving distance I would say it is worth the trip. Jim is a stand up guy and knows his Z stuff. Enough of me, time for some pics: The man himself outside the garage: Bone dry 1/70 car waiting its turn: 1970 FairLady: HLS30-00058: Floors! HLS30-00016: Vintage Z and HLS30-00042 Very clean Z - Burt Diamond if anyone knows who he is :flamedevi Me with Burt's old flame: Thinking about making an offer, it needs to come back to NY: 69 car too but forgot the vin, I do like this one: Work bench: Walls: Left side of garage: I forgot to take pics of car #19 and his turbo roadstr. Had a great time and will make a trip down again soon....maybe next years x-mas party! |

If you would like to make it THIS year and can get the time off, and make flight arrangements on time, Kathy and I will be driving down for this year's Christmas event of the Sun Coast Z Club, of which Jim and Carl are members. We traded some of our timeshare points so we could stay near Tampa. The reason I said this is that we will have a 2-bedroom facility with kitchen from late Friday afternoon 12/11/09 thru early Tuesday morning 12/15/09. You are welcome to stay with us at no cost while we are there and of course we could provide ground transportation on those days since we will have our car. No, you wouldn't have to ride on the cargo deck of a 240-Z; we will be using the Honda this time! |

Clive, I'm not sure I've ever seen a happier picture of you! And I believe that green 240 road car with the triples was Paul Newman's personal car. Frank |

Great pictures, thanks for sharing Clive! Does Jim have a separate area in the garage to do the dirty work on his Z collection with a lift, etc?? Just curious.... Phil |

Dirty work? Only time these cars are dirty is tear down. No lift, which he knows he needs. You can eat off every car in that garage but three. The other 14ish are MINT. Rick, thanks for the offer. I did hear you guys were driving down...you will have a great time. Frank, if you knew Burt you would know why. I also owe you a pm. |

That's why I asked the question, the shop looks immaculate and I wondered where the "real" work happened! |
