look she actually made it under her own power into the garage. need exhaust so she is running alittle rough. seems like my pedal is sticking cause as soon as i tough it revs really high and i gotta other shot the car off or pull the pedal up. so i had to clutch her in and she did fine. first car without power steering. i guess a little exercise never hurt anyone.

TA-DAAAAAHHH! :D Your Z moves under its own power, Mike ~ how smoothly it runs is a matter of refinement. The FACT that it runs is what makes your day!

You have the whole winter, bro.....be patient and learn your new car.

Did you get to work on the door locks? If not I should have some time next Saturday afternoon . I'm pretty much finished with the yard work at my dad's for now so I can stop by. I'll check and see if I have a hatch lock in the parts stash. Jim

Nope but I cleaned the air regulator and installed it. Still have the sticking idle problem but I managed to get her in. Yeah I'm free next Saturday afternoon. Oh the pcv was there and rusted so I put the new one in. And my new plug wires arrived so they went in.

Try spraying your entire linkage with a good penetrating oil (like GUNK), but put rags under anyplace you spray (trying to keep oil off surfaces which will get hot). WD-40 has never worked for me in this particular assignment ~ only penetrating oil. Work the linkage slowly thru the full pedal movement. If a few minutes of that drill doesn't loosen it up, I recommend pulling the linkage and sandblasting it entirely.

Take a digi-photo of the linkage before you pull it off, so you remember how to put it back on.

I tend to drip a pinheads worth of synthetic oil into the ball sockets and bushings for the throttle linkage once or twice a season. It helps keep throttle application smooth....and in your case, sticking to a minimum. But yes, if it can't be freed, take it apart and clean it up proper!

i used both silicone spray and wd-40 and when the car is not running the linkage seems to move freely. when it's running it sticks. i'll try oil next. and worse comes to worse i'll remove the linkage and give it a good cleaning.

Silicone spray makes a poor lubricant, as does WD-40. They both dry up instantly once they get hot. Try some real oil. Use a toothpick dipped into your favorite motor oil. Then run the toothpick around the bushing edges and capillary action will suck the oil into the bushings. Same applies to the ball joints in the linkage. ;-)

If you take it apart, use a little grease in the bushings.

Awesome that the car is running. Hopefully I won't be far behind.

Your garage is about the same size as mine. You will need more room ;)
