Mike,
Sounds great! I think I need a....what did the 76 L28 have again? Square I think. Let me know what you find.

Definitely on a budget. I haven't worked since May but I need this project to keep me sane.

MUCHO THANKS!

dave, you made me go out into the garage because i couldn't remember, i hate getting old!! the port on this header is square. the engine i have on a stand is a 79, which has round ports, don't know which head you have, most engines are not virgins anymore. late block, early head??

The Club partz car (1971) still has the head (E88, as I recall), the 4spd and the vent porthole emblems on it. Cheap stuff, if you want it. No part less than $5, no part more than $50. All proceeds go directly to the Club ~ nobody makes any profit off this car.

My engine is a virgin! 1976 that came originally in my 280Z, it still has it's birthday gaskets on it. It has an N42 head but I also have a P90A head that I could swap over. I need to do some head swap compression ratio research first but I am pretty sure that both heads use square ports.

Frank, I would gladly buy parts from the club car and donate to the club at the same time. Talk about a win-win!

I have a 1.5 car garage and a very nice storage shed that fits a Z. I am going to get both of our daily drivers ready for Winter, and clean out the main garage before old red gets here. Silver turbo will get to sleep in the shed, while I work on old-red. I have a lot of prep work to do in the next week or so. After that, I will arrange to buy your parts.

THANKS!!!!

Research done. Gotta love the internetz.

http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/ ... index.html

Cost effective to leave the motor internals alone. It ran great when I pulled it out, and it has been in my garage ever since. It will be fine as is. It does have square ports.

Dave, on our Website Homepage, click on the DATSUN Z GARAGE website icon in the left margin. Our member Bryan Little has figured out all those head-swap compression questions for you and made an easy-to-read chart for the results.

Frank

PS ~ If you need anything off the Club partz car, better order it soon ~ the car has to be moved before the snow flies and it will either be going to Hebron CT or to the junkyard. It's centrally located in CT for now, but not for much longer.

I don't think I'll ever build with a V8. If I do, it will be a pre-built car. It's just too much money to do it right. You can get a better deal by buying a nearly finished or finished car. Ask "deal of the century" Joe.

Besides, I really like the L motors and they can stick with the big boys when set up properly. Not to say the a V8 can't stomp the L ultimately...

Airjockie, keep me updated on the parts availability. Thanks.

Frank, I found a set of rear quarter vents in my garage! Bonus.

What shape is the header on the CTZCC parts car? Who can I contact for a photo of the header? Thanks.

:P

parts are available anytime....just come and look around, make an offer, and you may be going home a happy person. It only takes a few hours to unbolt everyhing.

Dave, the exhaust manifold on the partz car has been spoken for, and it's a stock manifold anyway, not a header.

When I get the car in the garage, I will step back and make a complete punch list, I love lists, then I will be spending the Winter paying visits to you guys, to exchange cash for parts, in between wrenching sessions.

Car should arrive this Friday or Saturday! My nesting instincts are kicking in. The garage needs major help.

Something like this in the Northeast is quite unheard of. Of all the years I have dreamed about owning a Z that could be preserved into the future, one that will not meet it's fate being swept up into the dust pan as iron oxide....this is it.

Here is a walk around as the resto-mod project begins. :P
