Well I couldn't help it and bought another parts car to strip. The seller listed as a 71 Z car but by the vin it is a 70 Z car. Based on the vin I would say it is a June or July built car.....I will know for sure this weekend. Plan is to strip the car of any decent parts and then it will get crushed. RIP another low vin Z car! It is to far gone to be saved.

Well at least she won't get crushed with good parts. Owner says she has been sitting outside in the yard for about 15 yrs or so.

Bad mornin', Clive.........

Well, what else am I supposed to say when I learn that another Series 1
is destined for the crusher? Second only to losing a family member.....
I agree w/Frank. Contrary to the popular belief that former Marines and
Paratroops/Rangers don't cry, the tears are coming on already.

Good call, Clive, I perceive the car to be an early 7/70 since my records
show the earliest 7/70 VIN I've seen is 06422, and the latest 07951.

I may have to hit you up for some of the parts since I am taking up a
collection for my '70 in case I ever want to return it to original. Frank
is checking out his '71 for some of the stuff, and maybe this car could be
part of the solution as well. 06289 has a lot done to it, but everything is
bolt-on; no cutting or chopping has ever been done.

Maybe I could take what is left of the shell and use it for a lawn or garden
sculpture instead of letting it go... do you think Zoning would mind much?

 !!!

I've always wondered how the front clip would look attached to the front of my house? Just the cowl, hood, fenders and grille sticking out of a wall, onto the front lawn  I could even fashion up a mock license plate reading, "Whoops!"

Well I guess you guys would be glad to know this is my only series 1 parts car. I passsed on car #299 which I plan to call and see if it is still around. It was in worst shape than this car but still had the clear rear glass in it.

Now here is where the problem is, I can take the entire car home or leave it there. I have one person in Mass who contacted me and is interested in the shell because it does have a title. I have no where to store the car. I have one Z at my house already and another for now in NJ.

Rick, if I can find any early enough Z parts for your 69 car....I will let you know of them. I am thinking #299 may be a perfect donor for $200.

If someone is serious enough and wants the shell, I can pick the entire car up. If not I have no choice but to let it go to the crusher.

Or, since the rear clip is the strongest part of the car, you could fashion that into a patio lawnchair! Cut the car in half behind the rear seats. Just pop the hatch open for shade or rain cover and nestle into a big, plush relax-o-chair mounted backwards in the cargo deck, with your legs hanging over the rear bumper. It's actually wide enough to put a loveseat in there!

Heck, if you left the rear wheels on it and welded a trailer tongue where the driveshaft used to be, you could move it around the yard, or trailer it to Z meets as a sun seat, or even pull the neighborhood kids around in it like a Rickshaw!

I can actually picture Paul making something like that! He's a romantic old devil and he loves Zs. He loves to cut stuff up and weld it back together, too.

Clive, I can't tell if #6820 still has a dashboard or instruments. Is the 4-way flasher switch still in the car?

*(and that looks like it might be an R-200 in the cargo deck 8) )

Frank, r 200 it is. Do you need a flasher switch? I do not think the dash is around for the car.

I think of it this way, the more of the junkers that car crushed...the more the others that are still around are worth.

Wow...any chance that the vacuum hoses for the brake booster are still intact?

Is there a spare tire in that Z?

Oh...I need a driver-side rear side marker lense..if its crack/scratch free?

I'll have to send you a list...

Oh my, PLEASE buy new Vacuum hoses.

Sorry to hear about the crushed. I wish I had my square mile lot, where I would let all these Zs die peacefully.

Ok....so there wasn't much left of the car. It was a blue int car and I tried removing the trans tunnel and got 3/4 of the way off and ripped it! >=(

The car was filled of junk and 1/2 of it wasn't even for a Z. Did get:

2400 valve cover
e31 head with intake and exhaust manis (SU carbs mia)
head light buckets
decent fenders
ign lock and orginal keys
steering wheel
fuel door nob
Other small things...metal emblems and stuff.

The car was far far far from being saved. Firewall wasn't connected on the passenger side. No floors and car filled with water! None of the rubber strips were in good shape.
