Hi Guys:
Dr. Bill Coffey lives in Gainesville, Florida and he is the Original Owner of his 71 Datsun 240Z. Bill has raced his Z almost since day 1 and has had a very successful time of it. Without question in my mind, Bill's 71 is one of the most beautiful competition 240Z's you'll ever see.

Every year for the past six years, Bill has opened up his Garage and invited lots of his Z Car friends to join him for a Garage Party. Bill also has lots of friends with very interesting Classic, Collectible and Special Interest cars - so they are invited as well.

Bill supplies everything - Food, Drinks, Awards and Door Prizes. He even provides a PortaPotty to handle the overload from two Kegs of Beer {if you get my drift}.

This past Saturday we attended Bill's Garage Party.. See picture below.

Starting at the far end of the garage - you can see Bill's 71 sitting beside HLS30 00016, sitting beside one of Jim Frederick's 72 240Z's, sitting beside the BRE Baja Z, sitting beside the Z Wolf, sitting beside "the Blue Oval Z". The red Z on the end sports a custom Fuel Injection set up.

In the next row forward you seen John Thomas's SCCA Auto-Cross prepared Z {blue} - JT is SCCA's National Auto-Cross Champion.

In the far garage door - you can see the nose of the 1972 IMSA GTO Championship Corvette - a 63 split window coupe. In the next garage door you can see a 1983 Pontiac Trans/Am with a Super Duty {454 cid I believe} big block.

In the picture below - you can see more of the Z's, and note the custom fuel injection on the engine in the red Z lower right of the picture.

Just outside the fence - to the Right is a Ferrari Dino - it is the Cannon Ball winner from the 1973 Cannon Ball - a race from New York City to L.A. Just a little farther down that line you see a 52 Chevy - it has an original 23K miles {or something close to that}.

In this picture - you can see a litle bit of the inside of Bill's Garage. I love the "DATSUN" logo on the back wall.

I think if I tried real hard and put my mind to it, I could enjoy myself
at an event like that. The only regret I have is that it couldn't be in
Dec. so that Kathy and I could do both that event and yours and Jim's,
all in the same trip!

Oh Lord! What a wonderful time that must have been! I was straining my eyes to see if that was Jimbo siting behind your Baja car, until I realized I could click on your photographs to puff them up.

THANK YOU for starting my day this way!

The detached hood on that #62 car scares me ~ propped up on end like that, it looks like it could fall fwd into the beautiful yellow 1970 ahead of it. And it isn't cool to rest Z hoods on their noses, anyway. :(

You guyz really have a magnificent Z Community down there. Looking forward to meeting some of them in December.

Frank
