i was just on craigslist and saw a 1977 zcar for sale in detroit for 2000. the car is beautiful, and i know first hand. the car belongs to one of our members and was at the end of year party at ross' house last year! be very careful what you look at in these ads and what information you give out. take a look, it is the first ad, a black zcar with a v8, you have all seen it before, only not in detroit, but on our member page, same pic!!!

Can you post the link? I tried searching for 280Zs in Detroit but couldn't find it.

There's alot of scammers on craig's list. Lots of guys on 300zxclub.com have claimed to see thier own cars for sale on craigslist. People post the ads and try to get a deposit or payment in full with promises to deliver then....they disappear.

I would be really CRANKED if this was the real deal, and it wasn't offered to our Club first.

As Mike E warned, beware of what you bite for on that website. We all remember what happened to our Arkansas member Chris Parent when he bought a "show quality" "Black Pearl" sight-unseen from NYC.

The car turned out to be a counterfeit "Pearl", painted to look like one. Even the pinstripes were painted on with a brush. The floors and frame rails were rusted thru and the headliner was touching both seats.

Chris had to travel to NYC to present his case to a NY Superior Court Judge. He won, and got his $ back and got to keep the car, but it was a costly, time-consuming, heart-breaking lesson and he still doesn't have a Black Pearl Z.

My neighbors Harley showed up on Craigslist last spring. Pictures of his bike, lic. Plate, and his house in the back ground.

He was not selling it. Contacted Craigslist that it was a scam, and was removed, but was relisted a day or two later.

I contacted thru e-mail 2 z cars for sale. Both had very good prices, both were listed in the CT area. Asked to take a look at the cars, but was told the cars is in another state, ready to be shipped as soon as I send them the payment. I did not.

I just conversed with the owner of this car (our member), who confirmed his Z is NOT (NOT) for sale and $2,000 wouldn't even replace his wheels.

This is a scam. The "seller" picks a photo of a beautiful car and offers it for sale at a ridiculously low price which nearly anyone could afford. "Buyers" contact the "seller" and, realizing anybody else could buy the car first, fire off a retainer or even the whole amount in a panic rush to make sure they don't lose the chance. "Seller" makes as many deals as possible over the phone before disappearing over the nearest horiZon with all the cash they stole from all their phone 'deals'.

I'm angry that this happened to one of our members, using a photo from our website.

The big lesson here remains: "If it seems too good to be true......"

Sort of like being promised a date with Ginetta as soon as she gets back from the hotdog stand with your wallet.......

Frank

I hate those scams, gets me all worked up. I hope I don't ever see myself for sale in the adult section. Well I bought all my Z's on craigslist in RI., and the 83 in Mass. so can't be all that bad. If it's a scam, they wouldn't contact you back if you say you want to see it in person. Give RI a try, lots of nice Z's right now. Worth a try. The worst one I saw was on zcar.com about the 15 240z's for sale, that upset alot of people. I Hate that, stuff. Yep, that 280 seemed to good for the price.

I posted a Z for sale and within and hour I had a guy from "far away", so he needed my name, phone number, address and email to send a bank check.

Funny thing is, his email wasn't valid, and was rejected by my mail service. Stupid scammers can't even scam right.
