HAPPY NEWS!

Our member John Taddonio, who is PreZident of the Z Car Club of Rochester NY, has adviZed us that his classic 1970 240Z #03833 has won BEST OF SHOW at the Buffalo NY OCTAGON ASSOCIATION CAR SHOW! The Octagon Assn is an MG Club which sponsors annual car shows for all makes in the NY region.

John's 240Z was choZen over some really tough competition ~ Porsches, Jaguars, Triumphs, MGs, Morgans and American muscle cars of all years and eras tried to beat him. But his totally restored classic Z car walked away with Top Honors!

John has stripped his 1970 240 to the bare metal and restored or replaced each piece ~ a two year labor of love. His car was originally sold off the showroom floor of Datsun of Honolulu in the summer of 1970. That year they received and sold FOUR 1970 240Zs. THREE of those cars have been accounted for today: John has one, his Rochester buddy Shawn (who pits and wrenches for our member Alan Robbins) has another, and I own the third!

Three carz, which all started in Japan and sat beside each other on the same Honolulu showroom floor in the summer of 1970, have migrated 6,000 miles to live within 400 miles of each other!

John sent me some spectacular photographs of his PERFECT '70Z car and they're well worth zeeing ~ his car is showroom-perfect!

Nice work, John! Thanks for all the time, effort, and expense you endured to preserve this very important 1970 240Z!

Ahhhh...that's RIGHT! You went to see the big gathering in Rochester and got to zee this car in person, didn't you Paul? I remember Al was there with you, too.

It's my intention to take #02807 to Rochester for a picture of the three "Honolulu" carz parked together. I undrstnd Shawn's car is really nice, too, so my daily driver 240 will look like a ragamuffin parked beside theirs (especially after a 400 mile road trip). No problem ~ they deserve to be photographed together.

Yea Frank, and I got some pics you might like to see, I'll bring em to the show. Keep in mind that they might be at the next N.Y show at Watkins Glen, a must see event. (next year) Now make shure you get some Hula girls for the pictures.

Thanks for all of the nice comments on my 240Z. It has been a part of my family for 30 years and it was a labor of love doing the restoration WITH a LOT of help from my friends.

I'll Z you all at the show on Saturday, I won't be bringing the 240Z, so if you want to see it in person, we will have to get you all to come to our Z weekend next July 30-Aug. 1!

And then there's the TRUE story of the 3 1970 240Zs from Hawaii now within a stone's throw of each other 40 years later.....but I'll let Frank continue THAT story!
