http://www.nistune.com/

NIStune is a real-time tuning suite designed especially for Nissans which provides the ability to:

*

Retune factory Nissan Engine Control Units (ECU)
*

Monitor gauges and map tracing on your ECU
*

Data log from your ECU using consult, wideband and auxiliary inputs
*

Perform playback using graphs, gauges and map tracing

It provides:

* Connectivity for up to two emulators simultaneously (Pocket Romulator and Moates Ostrich)
* Loads and Saves files in regular and odd/even formats for chip burning (EPROM/FLASH)
* Support for up to two simultaneous wideband units (various commercial units supported)
* Communication to our specially developed NIStune Real-time boards to perform real-time tuning

Features:

* Real time tuning, map tracing, logging and playback
* Consult display capabilities with real time diagnostic information in a separate window
* Full Log Recording and playback is available for all consult variants.
* Dual channel Wide Band support
* Wideband can also be recorded inline with consult data and played back.
* Edit five ROM images simulatenously, with comparison capabilities
* Map and table copy feature
* Intelligent display tables decoded for easy modification
* Completely editable multi window grid, map/table views
* Knock cells highlightable, pinpoint map trace configurable for follow and trail functionality, cell marking available
* Resize injectors and change AFM capabilities
* Real time RAM monitoring system
* AFR and auxillary input trace against RPM and load
* Hardware and software installation guides and manuals provided

What does this mean for a vehicle owner?

You can fit a real-time daughter board to your factory ECU and turn it into a fully remappable ECU, which makes it tuneable similar to aftermarket systems for a fraction of the price. This allows you to fit larger injectors, larger Mass Airflow Meters and get your ECU tuned for these and fuel and ignition changes. You can either tune it yourself or have it professionally tuned by one of our listed workshops.

What does it mean for workshops?

Once a customers vehicle has a NIStune board installed, the customer can drive in, you do the tune, flash in the change and they drive out. Your laptop simply plugs into the ECU directly via USB (for early model vehicles) or into the vehicle diagnostic port (for later model vehicles) using a Nissan Consult cable.

Tuning provides real time modification whilst the vehicle is running, with all changes immediately updated. Wideband feedback and other auxiliary inputs can be monitored on an internal display and traced against fuel and timing map scalings.

Frank, just make shure the match book isn't wet, It'll throw off your points specs. This is one area I haven't ventured, but I'd say that's the cat's meow. I will defiantly have to look into this.

Looks somewhat serious!

What's it weigh and what diameter? (NISSAN made a different size flywheel just about every 3-5 years, it seems).

Maybe ~ 12 lbs. 240mm Flywheel (Referring to the clutch surface, all flywheels are the same overall dia.). 71C all had the 240mm and early Turbo 84-86 had 240mm I do believe, so I'll use an aftermarket clutch (DXD) for an 86 Turbo.

Most of the aftermarket flywheels are 240mm, I think.

Side Note; got my replacement head in today. Going to clean it up tomorrow and finish installing that and the timing belt. Hopefully.

Next up is the fuel system. Maybe something special wile I have the tap set out.

Got both heads on and set the timing today.

Now its on to the fuel System and getting the flywheel and Pressure plate balanced.

Hopefully this stage will be done by end of August.

As for the Chassis, removing the sound deadening is priority so I can cut away the cancer and learn how to weld.

OH! Speak with Clayton right away! He self-taught himself this year and didn't burn down any structures or set himself on fire too much. Also talk with new member Bryan ~ he loves to 'weld', and isn't afraid of the results!

I self tought myself, and practice makes, well, better. Thick metal is easier than the thin stuff. It may not look purty, but as long as it holds. That's why they invented grinders. :?

Hurt my back last Sunday. Aggrivated an injury BAAAD!

So not much progress until today.

Got all the bolts properly torque on the VG30E, and got all the accessories cleaned and bolted on. Need to size up some belts now, with the new configuration.

Waiting on some fuel items I ordered, as that's the next stage of the enigine build.

Until then more sound deadoning removal, rust and frame repair.

I'll get a pic up tomorrow if I can remember to bring my camera.

No new parts since money is hiding from me, O_o.

In the meantime I have been splitting the wiring loom in the engine bay attempting a tuck. In between that and and cutting out rot I have been chiseling the sound deadening crap.

Anyone no somewhere local to pick up dry ice?
