Just read through this and wanted to chime in on the weight issue. I forget the exact number, but assuming you drop a set of L92(or other aluminum heads) on the LQ4 6.0l block you only wind up picking up around 60lbs or so. SLP sells a kit with the fully dressed L92 heads, intake and 90mm TB for $1800 or so...Not bad considering most folks are laying down well above 450whp with the right cam and no boost :)

Sorry for the lack of update I have been a little busy with school. I do have a set of 318 aluminum heads for the lq4 along with a stock ls1 intake to get me started. I am also planing on putting a fuel cell full cage etc so in the end the weight distribution should be decent or atleast tend to push making it a little better in a straight line. My winter break from Uconn starts in about a week so i should have some more progres to report. First thing is to get the 300zx rear subframe mounted which will involve a lot of cutting and weding in of frame. Im not sure exactly how im going to do this but i am sure i will figure out something.

I just read through and like to say good job so far. Very interesting ideas you have, never thought about a 300zx rear assembly. Can't wait to see this one done. I also had a thought, you guys with one Z to work on really can show some progress. :D Get R done.

I was originaly going to use a s15 subframe to use the stock body with a set of flares but realized it would be better to make this thing wide and it would be a lot easier to use a subframe that allows me to use stock 4 pistons brakes in the rear, stock axles and a stock r230. that way i modify the chassis once and can use all stock parts or aftermarket parts that come relativley cheap.

Glad to see you still on it. Def want to see how you construct the rear end. I know this is way out there but your plans for paint?

i want to see how i construct this rear end also i have no idea how im gonna get this rear end mounted. i have a massive amount of 2x4 and square tubing i can hopefully connect to something solid. right now the mounts for the rear subframe look like they arnt going to be near anything usable right now. i guess i will really know when i can get the tires mounted on and part of the floor cut out allowing me to put the rear end in aproximatley the right area.

as far as color i have a few ideas. for now im just putting everything in green acid etch primer but as soon as it is rolling and the rust/basic bodywork and framework is done im gonna do it wetsanded black a little more satin than my last ride
Image
but once all the bugs are worked out im thinking white with a black hood and black accents or red with black hood and accents

Kathy and Rick which monster truck tires are you refering to. the high profile on thos stockers? those are just on there to get it rolling and on the ground
