:( Sad to hear the News myself. My race car hero, great actor and great blue cheese dressing, I will miss him. (maybe we can have a candle vigilance the 18th, just a thought.) :(

I wish we could somehow pay a tribute to Mr. Newman with a Z parade of some sort. But I fear that would not be appropriate for a man of his stature.

I thought Z parade too. Or, over take a drive inn somewhere's and only Z's are allowed in to watch a double feature of his movies. O' and his food products at the concession stand. Then raise a little money for one of his great humanatarian projects he started.

I would be pleased if we dedicated one of our events to honor Paul's memory ~ like maybe our annual picnic. It could become the "First Annual Paul Newman Commemorative Z Car Picnic" or something. Or we could buy AirJockie's 260 and paint it up in Paul's racing colors, and tow it around once a year. Or once our membership reached 200, we could split into the BOB SHARP chapter and the PAUL NEWMAN chapter......or something. Naw, probably not. But we could do something significant to show the world that we feel a loss, due to Paul's contributions to these cars.

We need to bear in mind that Paul's passing represents the loss of a personal friend to Bob Sharp, who taught Paul to race and shared many years of experiences with him. It probably wouldn't hurt to PM Bob and offer a word or two.

Definitely the loss of a great person, actor and humanitarian. His movie "Nobodys Fool" was shot in the area i live in, in the movie his ex wifes house is actually about 3 houses from mine in Poughkeepsie, bit of local renown and pride... Sorry for the loss of your friend Bob....

Maybe pull the Z around with some horses, since he did some westerns. I like your first idea, we can watch one of his movies and have some of his food. To bad he didn't make a beer.

In 1968 or '69 Paul starred in a race movie called "Winning". He had never raced but it was felt he should have some track experience before doing the movie. He went to his home track (Lime Rock) and took a ride with the local track champion (a guy named Bob, in a really fast Z car) and was hooked on the racing thing immediately. A few days later people came to Bob and told him that the guy who had ridden around with him now wanted to take driving lessons from him. Bob replied, "oh, that 'Paul' guy?"
Newman took lessons from Sharp and became a really good driver. Sharp hired Newman and the rest, as they say, is history.

Correct the story if you remember it differently, Bob.
