The club is building rapidly, and I know it's hard for all of us (up north)to attend the monthly meetimgs in Darien. If there is enough intrest, I would like to be able to expand our reach and discuss a possible meeting area in the Hartford region. Any and all activities would be relayed to the mother ship,(Darien, via Ross). Please contact me when you can. It looks like Ct. is well on it's way to being a major Z car club. Let's make it happen!
Regards,
Greg

I'd certainly shoot up to Hartford on occasion.

Then in the future there could be a meeting place on the Rhode Island border. 8=D Well that's a little better, I can't make them all, but Hartford makes it a little easier for us tiny state guys.

Guys, I can't tell you how happy I am to hear you discussing this.

As Ross will tell you, this idea and others like it have been discussed
among the club officers for many months.

As the club began growing, we recognized a need for at least
occasional meetings at locations more central than Darien. We love
our sponsoring dealership and wouldn't change that, but we have
explored holding meetings at other locations, to let far-flung members
have easier access to us.

Another advantage to the occasional meeting in another town
is ~ we get to fly the Colors in another town!
Wider advertising will help us draw more members.

Some of our most-recent attempts to arrange meetings in other
towns have failed for one reason or another, but we're still
trying to arrange meetings in the Groton, Middletown and
UConn areas.

One of the problems with this stems from the fact that we STILL
haven't had anyone volunteer for the position of Events Director.
So this sort of idea falls neatly into center field, when we have no
center fielder. I certainly hope someone steps up for next
year, or we'll again be faced with one or two members trying to
plan all the road trips, car shows, fun runs, membership meetings,
etc. It's neither fun nor fair to ask one person to do everything,
but you can't "beat" people until they volunteer for something,
and eventually even Ross got tired of asking for help.

As Membership Director, I have tried to arrange meetings in
several other towns since May. (Not my job, but I had more time
available than others had). The dealerships who were
receptive to the idea offered insufficient accommodations for
our meetings. Others either never got back to me and dodged
my calls, or were not hot on the idea. (PM me for details).
Let's face it ~ Darien Nissan has treated us better than we have
a right to ask for! :)

It's clear that CTZCC has already grown to the extent that we need
to be seen in more areas of our little state. I would love to see us
move the meetings around to each corner of the state, then in the
center, then back again. There are practical problems with that idea
but nothing we couldn't overcome. We would remain loyal to Darien
Nissan and even do a little state-wide word of mouth advertising for
them. But all this takes planning, approval and coordination, and we
are still waiting for someone to take on Events. Maybe even a small
committee could be formed......lots of possibilities.

Let's discuss this openly at the next meeting and see where it goes?

And by the way ~ THANK YOU ALL for thinking!!!

Frank T
