This Concour parade thru Westchester County ends at the Malcom Pray achievement center garage for dinner. We were guests there some years ago, to see Malcom's incredible car collection (which has since been sold). This is really short notice (this weekend!) and I have already made plans.

Incredible day at the Turtle Garage Invitational Concours yesterday. Beautiful weather and just incredible rare cars.
Our Scott Cole accepted the Golden Turtle for Bob Sharp, who could not attend the show.
I was parked out in the non show, but special car parking area ....Out in the meadow!
Parked next to my Z was a Datsun Roadster, vintage racer with a nice history. Hopefully the owner, Bruce will be joining the CTZCC...
I just love Peter Sach's Ferrari 1961 Ferrari TRI/61. As I was leaving Peter Sach's pulled out of the showfield in front of me, he actually drove the car to the event!!! Followed him down RT 121 for a bit, just a complete thrill, what a sweet sound.
Some photos attached, early morning curtain call for #6, and some winners.

Glad you were able to represent us there, and that Bob is still being recogniZed for his incredible contribution to the car and society we hold dear. Did Doc Robbins accompany his #6 car too?

He got it from California, (no rust) it has a few bumps and bruises from racing. Lots of factory race stuff on it. He ran Equinox this past August. Looks like it was the same color as my Z at some point. His brother has one also, I have seen that car at LRP. .
Some photos.

Nice work as usual, Colin. I like the way your photos focus on individual details of a car rather than solely on the whole car itself. That tells me you have an eye for unique features and appreciate each car for it's subtle characteristics. Both you and Alan do that, and Karl Walton is hot on your heels.
We are blessed to have such expert Photoapperati in our midst.

I chased a little straight-pipe 2000 ohc Roadster around Thompson while we were there, and he sounded beautiful.

Frank, did you notice the Hawaii Region SCCA badge on the dash? This is a 1970, might have been very close to your Z at some point!

Thanks for the pictures and sorry for taking so long to respond. Did reach out to the SCCA in Hawaii regarding the dash plaque but could not find out much history. One person thought his uncle Peter Brown may have had the car in Hawaii for a time ( matches the name on the side of the car). Bought it off of eBay from a race car collection in California. Believe it was one of their castoffs but I really like it. Did get it out to a vintage race at Mt. Equinox this summer. Hope to get it too a few more races next year.

Looking at a Mikuni PH40 triple carb set up for a 240z project. Any view on how good they are or value?

WELCOME, Bruce! Glad to have you aboard. Nice little toy you have there!

The 240Z performs very well with triple carbs *AND* the right cam. 40DCOE Webers were the standard for many years, until Mikuni, Solex and some individual port injectors were introduced. The Webers are fine but require frequent minor adjustments and jets if you change gross altitude, gross temperature, and (some) even spark plugs. Webs often hesitate or stumble btwn speed ranges too altho that has little effect on performance.

Today there are fuel injectors housed in phony Weber bodies, to make it look like you are still old-school while you enjoy the optimum fuel delivery and performance.

Webers have been made in Italy, Spain, and now the Philippines or other countries. The quality seems to have fallen off each time they hire different countries to build them. Individual carbs now cost about 1/2 what the originals used to cost back in the '60s/'70s, but the quality is noticeably different. If you find an old set of Webs for a 240z on a decent Canon manifold, you could pay btwn $1,000-$4,000 for them. The cam makes as much difference as the increased induction does; too many people throw triple carbs on their engine and expect the stock cam to handle the increase. They get disappointed when the engine bogs down under the load of 3x fuel and air.

We have an excellent engine mech here in the Club. Vinny Bedini has been doing Datsun engines and gearboxes for nearly 40yrs. You might enjoy talking with him at his New Milford speed shop: (860) 355-182nine.
