Nice! Makes me wish I had kept my 280Z that I parted out in 2003. At the time I thought it would be too daunting of an exercise to bring her back to life. I did not have the contacts, shops, support network that we have now. Ironic.

Ross, losing that old 280 might have spurred your intent to develop a Club, so that 'future' Z owners wouldn't have to abandon their carz.

That Z might have had a pretty good chance at another 10 years, if it was in the Club today.

I sure know how you felt. In the 1970s and '80s, my local NC Datsun dealer had blacksmiths for Z mechanics. They broke more partz off my car in 20 minutes than I did in 12 years (including dropping it off the 5-ft lift once). I felt like nobody in the free world knew how to work on a Z, and sometimes I would end up explaining to the 'mechanic' how a job had to be done.

Thanks Frank. I always dreamed of a place where Z owners could congregate, give and get advice and build a stable of vendors / repair shops. With the help of many people, especially our officers, that dream is now a reality.

The final nail in my former Z's coffin was when I brought it to the only place I could think of - Bob Sharp Nissan in Wilton, CT for an "inspection". They put it up on the lift and told me not to bother with the car as it was too far gone. I now know that Vinny could have fixed what was wrong with it in short order.

Oh well!

i think they would have said the same about my Z Ross. it has frame damage but still runs and drives great. of course it could be better but for what it is it's amazing. i look at my car as a testament of what Datsun/Nissan is capable of. they make automobiles that last. my suspension is easily 30yrs old and yet it drives and handles pretty darn well. will better suspension help it..of course. but to me just the fact that this car is actually on the road amazes me. and thanks to this club it will enjoy many more years than it would have. so a big thanks to you Ross for starting this club! i have gotten to be a part of so many great things and meet so many great people in only a matter of 9 months.

Yea, how we gona reconize you now. Boy, I can think of some cars, especially Z cars I wish I never got rid of. My biggest mistake was gettin rid of an 83 turbo, black with tan leather, 60k for miles, yea my dream 280zx, all because the girlfriend at the time thought I had to many cars. I keep the picture on my desk to remind me..........to never take a woman over my Z car, EVER again. I guess I'm a lucky man now.................after having 9 Z cars in the yard a couple years back, we're still together. "ZS4EVR"

I liked the rainbow effect better, but I think I could still recognize the
car by its sound even despite the semi-camouflage paint.

Mike,
It really looked good when I saw it in person. So much fun to see another Z come back from the grave. Keep up the great work! Ross

Mike,

What a fantastic accomplishment. AmaZing what can be done with focus and determination. Good job! Wish we could have spent more time discussing your car but look forward to it at the July 17 show.

By the way you did very good on the TV news!

Thanks,

Robin
