Hi all,

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to host a Fall Outing this year. It would have been #15, which would have been an awesome milestone.

Brenda and I are in the process of downsizing and our house is under contract. The closing is scheduled for mid-October. The other concern of course is Covid-19. I think many would have stayed away over concerns about the virus. So if we couldn't congregate and speak to one another easily, I don't think it would have been much fun anyway.

One member contacted me about setting up an event in alternate space and I encouraged them to post it on the forum.

If you think you will miss not coming to the Fall Outing, I assure you that I will miss it more! It became an institution for the club and one of my favorite events.

Better to be safe than sorry and we will rise again when this is all over!

Sincerely,

Ross

:( Crestfallen, but I agree with you. If even a single member fell ill with Covid due to a Club function, we would never forgive ourselves. This is sad, but sacrificing together unifies us in a weird way, doesn't it?

There are a hundred members I would love to see and visit with again, but not if it endangers anyone. We miss you, Ross. Best to Brenda and the kids, and good luck in your next home. We will be thinking of all the great times we shared at "the mansion".

Please, everyone, keep in touch here on the website.

Frank T

Nothing but great memories provided by our wonderful hosts Brenda and Ross. We hope you all stay healthy and perhaps in the near future we can get together somewhere to rekindle those memories.

In case anyone has doubts about this judgement call, here's a news clip regarding the recent motorcycle bash at Sturgis:

"A motorcycle rally held in South Dakota in August and attended by hundreds of thousands of Americans from across the country is linked to more than 260,000 Covid-19 cases recorded in the US since 2 August, a new study suggests, with researchers describing the event as a "worst-case scenario" for spreading the disease".

I think I'll add this clip to our ZCon thread, too.

Hey Ross - Congratulations to you and Brenda on selling the house!

We're certainly going to miss having you in CT, but thankfully you'll still be close enough to drive down for whatever event eventually takes the place of the Outing (unlike those people who have the audacity to move out West...).

Best of luck with the closing and the move! Please keep in touch!

- Jim

I echo Jim's comment on selling your house, Congrats ! ! !

Having said that I am sorry there won't be a gathering this year but totally agree that it is not the thing to do. Being someone that is at risk from health issues I would most likely not have attended this year.

It always amazed me that you opened your home to all of us every year but thinking about my fellow members it is easy to understand why.

We are after all are just a group of people from diverse backgrounds that love our Z's 8)

Ross,

I have to agree with not having a 15th Z Outing. The times are not with us this year. It would be an uncomfortable situation for many. It's been a super ride. I believe my first was 2008, the year after purchasing our Z.

Best wishes to Ross, Brenda and family on your re-location. I'm sure we'll bump into each other somewhere along the way.

Alan

Was looking forward to the outing, just got my 18th ZCar last Sat... Ross good luck to you and yours in your new endeavours. Will miss the event, people and cars... Always great camaraderie, like we see each other regularly. A great kinship created from a common interest.. Z cars...!! Picked up a 05 350z, automatic with 112k miles. Loving it, amazing machine...!!! Maybe we can set up a cars and coffee or a cruise-in get together sometime in the future...

Outdated info now.

You change Z cars like some people change boots or jeans. 8)

Tom - You are forgiven. Now cut it out with the non-Z purchases going forward!

Hope you are doing well.

Thanks Ross, doing very well thank God... My buddy Mike is on the mend, he fell off a ladder while cutting a branch and shattered his heel... Won't be flooring his mustang for a while...

Well Ross completely understandable due to current situation and you have a lot on your plate at the moment. We can all just forget this year happened and call it the "THE Year the Z Stood Still" (sequel to "The Day the Earth stood still") :P
