Big Al Babik recently told me of a great International Z event he is hosting at Big Al's Bar and Grill this month and we're invited!!

The world-famous Barrett-Jackson car auction will take place at Mohegan Sun Casino over the weekend of 23-24 June. Gearheads from all over the planet attend these auctions and this year a contingent from the Toronto Z Club is escaping Canada to spend 4 days at it. Needing a place to crash, they have managed to convince Big Al and the Lovely Renee to host them!

Never one to let an opportunity for a party or a Z event slip by, Big Al has decided to invite all of us to make it a good bash! If Renee has to cook for a dozen anyway, she might as well cook for three doZen! :D Al has hinted that he intends to demonstrate his skills at both the BBQ and the bar and feels that's something we all should witness. Hey, even if we don't enjoy his grilled tasties and spirits, at least we can meet the Toronto Z guys and make them feel welcome. I understand that both the President and Vice President of the Toronto club intend to attend.

This sounds like an excellent excuse to get the cars out for at least a few hours (if not more), have a nifty destination and familiar faces to share a day with, critique Big Al's Grille Skill and Lovely Miss Rene's (MRS Rene now! 8) ) waitressing and hosting abilities.

Big Al, please tell us the details (Time/Date/Location) and how we sign up for this?

Frank

LOL
OK, Point taken Karl.
If I hope to enjoy the libations w/o grief from Jan, I need to bring a non sifter or semi auto shifter she can drive (just in case I have too much fun). So I’ll probably take a Nissan CuZZin named Godzilla. Is that OK?

Hey Guys,

I'm in East Lyme and will be picking up my 1st ever Z car: a '94 Fairlady 300zx on Friday, June 21. Maybe I can bring her out for her 1st CT gathering on Saturday?!? Man, that would be fun and I'd love to pick everyone's brains since I'm such a newbie (don't even have it yet)!

I'm also looking for a solid and reliable service shop close to the East Lyme-Groton-New London area that specializes in Z cars and maybe even specializes in 300's. Any suggestions and I'm all ears.

You can see my new baby in the new members introduction forum.

Thanks so much and hope to make it out to the event this Saturday!

Unfortunately I have a family commitment that weekend and won't be able to make it to Big Al's :( , but thanks for the invite.

Jeff, you have bought yourself a spaceship. The 1984 300zx took First Place in its class at LeMans that year and broke performance and sales records every time it turned a wheel.

"The second generation "Z32" was driven up-market, being faster, more capable, more advanced, and much higher priced than its predecessor, with consecutive price increases each model year of availability. As such, the Z31 was the more accessible, and ultimately the more popular model, selling over 100,000 more units in total than the Z32. In 1983-1984 the Nissan 300ZX Turbo brand new priced around $12,000-$18,000.

Car and Driver placed the Z32 on its Ten Best list for 7 consecutive years, each model year of its availability in the United States. Motor Trend awarded it as the 1990 Import Car of the Year". (Wiki)

Your car has incredible power and even steers with the rear wheels (HICUS steering) to help in cornering and parking. It has gadgets other cars never dreamed of. As a screaming performer, the Z32 requires high maintenance and periodic scheduled repairs and replacements (like the timing belt). It's becoming hard to find them today because most owners realiZe there were few made (the slower, cheaper Z31 outsold them) and they are an automotive icon. There were many consecutive years when no other sportscar could touch the Z32. Even GT-R drivers turned cold when they saw one. It would be great if you brought it to Big Al's and showed it off!
Just look at this beautiful beast! Doesn't it make your heart beat quicker?

Frank T

Hey Frank
Recent Forecast suggests there may be free car washes available (wanted or not) Saturday PM.
We can deal with that if needed, but it daZ put a damper on the gathering environment itself.
ZO... How do we get Ross to wave hiZZZ Magic Weather Wand over the GriiZwald general area?
