Hey guys,

It's been a while, and I've been missing some Z action. I hope you are all well.

Would you guys want to do a local meet for CT guys and anyone else who would want to come at my store, County Line Nissan? We've done small spring and fall get together's in the past, and would love to invite you guys down for an evening. When would work? County Line would absorb any costs.

Any ideas, post and shoot me an email, qbannon@countylineauto.com

Hi Quinn - I'd love to visit your business again. We had a great time there about 5 years ago, when, I believe Thor was in town to give us a presentation. We had a great turnout and an overall wonderful time. I look forward to doing it again!

It would be great to gather at your shop again Quinn, thanks for inviting us back.
[County Line Nissan, 2191 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury, CT 06762]
We haven't held monthly meetings for the past two Zeasons; it took us 10 full years but we finally managed to wear all of our officers out at the same time so the Club has been free-wheeling since then. That's why we haven't been pounding on your door to let us back in recently. We really need a monthly meeting!

Our usual meeting schedule was the 2d or 3d Wednesday of each month, from "about" 1800 to 'about' 2100, but many of us came earlier and left later. Because this would (will) be our very first monthly meeting in nearly two years, I would expect a huge turnout. If we looked at either the 9th or 16th of May, would that fit your schedule? (You are encouraged to sell as much of your inventory as possible to make room for all the Zs which I expect would attend).

Attention NEW GUYz:
For those new members who have joined us during the past year or so, the CTZCC normally holds monthly meetings at various NISSAN dealers around the state (that way every member gets access to us without having to drive far). As you know, dues are free and so are the meetings. The host dealership buys us piZZa (because there are so many Zs in it) and soda. Our indoor, sit-down meetings usually last an hour or 2, but we spend a LOT of time in the parking lots hanging out with the cars and catching up on Z news. Everybody in this Club is a Z brother, "most of us know most of us", and we're all interested in each others' cars. The salesmen and line mechanics are especially interested in learning about all years and models of the classic Z. You can expect strange people to ask you technical and casual questions about your car (and probably share some hair-raising Z stories of their own) 8)

We have strict rules of engagement for our meetings and events. We are GUESTS on other people's property, who have about a billion dollars worth of new NISSANS displayed around the lot, so we behave. No alcohol is permitted at any CTZCC function; we are all craZy enough sober. No pets are allowed! (there is nothing good a pet can do to our classic Zs or to our host's new NISSANs, people have phobias and allergies to your furry family member, and nobody wants to listen to your lonely dog bark all thru our meeting. PleaZe leave him at home). ZERO drug tolerance. No burn-outs, parkinglot donuts, or unethical driving thru our host's neighborhood; do nothing which will bring discredit or criticism to our Club or our host's dealership. Because the CT Z Car Club is a Family-Friendly organization, we allow no profanity (either verbal or displayed on your shirts or cars, etc), and no activity which would make you hesitate to bring your mom or kid sister to our next function. We aren't really a church group, but we could be mistaken for one with a little effort. We have a lot of female members and we want them comfortable about meeting with us. We gather for the FUN of sharing the Z experience with our buddies and keeping abreast of Z news. It's actually hard for us to leave every meeting, even when we have classes or work the next morning. (It's good we don't hold these meetings on the weekend; nobody would ever leave).

Our Host Dealers around the state love to have us meet at their showrooms. First, we have a great reputation. We are a CLUB, not a gang. We don't tear things up and we clean up after ourselves when we leave. We've never had a fight or a disturbance. The only time cops ever became involved with us was to swing in off patrol and admire our carZ, or to escort us for processions. We have never been kicked out of any venue, nor ever asked not to return to one. We want to keep it that way. NISSAN dealerships vie each year to serve as our choZen location for our Z Car Show. In short, you've joined an excellent Club which we are very proud of and we work hard together to keep it that way.

The dealers benefit by having 30 or so classic Z cars in their front lot with the hoods open for 3-4 hrs after work/school. They often advertiZe our scheduled meeting on their social media pages, inviting the public to come see our Zs. Salesmen keep an eye on our cars while we are in the meeting, and at County Line we can see the cars directly outside their big "club house" while we relax inside. Passing gear heads, curious bystanders and nostalgic dads with school kids love to stop and see the cars and tell Little Johnny about dad's old 240Z when he was a kid. That brings potential customers onto the NISSAN lot and their salesmen can use our happy group of responsible Z owners to demonstrate the longevity and loyalty of Datsun/Nissan ownership. It also shows customers that NISSAN North America stands behind their brand and supports their customers. We represent 49 years of loyal Z guardianship and most of our grey-haired Z drivers today started out with their first Z when they were in their 20s. Quinn, himself is a loyal member of this Club and drives a dynamite Z. It's cool for him to take pictures of the cars and happy members gathering on his lot and develop new customers when they zee us on the County Line webpage. Many of our members have bought new or used NISSANS from the dealers who have sponsored our meetings, and several dealerships offer significant CTZCC parts discounts for Club members only. During one of our meetings a stranger walked off the street, spent an hour looking at our cars and talking with our happy members, walked in and bought a new 350Z off the showroom. We inspire.

Everybody has a Z story, and everybody wanted one when he was a kid. In the midst of doZens of Z discussions, it's really hard to tear away from the cars to go inside for piZZa and soda. Our meetings usually involve presentations by officers, members, or guest speakers and personal introductions by any new members. It's all very laid-back, no-pressure and relaxed. Dress is casual/comfortable. Only the salesmen wear ties. In short, it's a great time and makes you leave with a smile, looking fwd to the next time we can meet. Because of County Line's location, we usually get members from NY and other states, who can't make meetings farther away from them on weeknights, but we've had members from Massachusetts and Rhode Island travel all the way to County Line for our meetings there. It's always great to zee old friends and catch up on their cars.

In short, if this would be your first CTZCC meeting, PLEASE attend! Feel free to bring your significant other and well-behaved kids. If your Z isn't roadworthy yet, feel free to bring the Rolls (or whatever) and your camera. You will always remember your first CTZCC meeting, and County Line is a great place for a first experience!

re: County Line Nissan...

Just my luck, Frank. You suggested May 16, one of the 4 warm weather Wednesdays I have other plans that cannot be altered. The others are May 9, Jul 18, and Aug 15. Hopefully another date can be selected.

Quinn, Thanks for the offer to host a CTZCC gathering. With a bit o' luck I will be among those in attendance.

Alan

I spoke with Quinn, who advizes County Line has new commitments on Wednesday nights this year so he recommends we shoot for a Tues or Thurs instead. I'm inclined to feel Thursday/24May is as good as any day. We would arrive shortly after 6pm and leave by 10pm.
Anybody who can't make that date?

Frank

Frank T,

The 23rd of May is on the calendar. I'm hoping to see a great turnout at County Line Nissan.

Ok guys,

Unfortunately it's a no go on the 24th, simply because I have to go to a Nissan event in New Jersey for a couple days. Can anyone plan on the following Tuesday the 29th? That would be ideal for us here. Let me know. Sorry to disappoint.

Frank, give me a call to discuss.

All the best,

Quinn Bannon
