I'll be heading up from Pennsylvania on rt.84. Is there a group meeting up somewhere I could tag along with that is more familiar than I am with the area?

Jay,

I plan on leaving my home around 9:30AM. I may have my son with his Z joining me. If it works for you I could meet you off of RT 34 near the Wilbur Cross Pkwy (Rt 15) in CT at that time.

That may be too early for you, but if you are interested, you can take I-84 East to exit 11 in CT to Rt 34 East then drive about 16.5 miles on 34 East to a commuter lot. You will be driving alongside the scenic Housatonic river for a good part of this leg continuing on through the small town of Derby CT. Continue on 34 East to the commuter lot on your left off of RT 34 located on Greenway Rd. The lot is located just prior to RT 15 which we would take south for another 35 miles to our destination.

Let me know if you would want to join us at that 9:30 time. I have a prior commitment later in the PM which is why I'm heading there early.

Anyway, I hope to see you at the outing.

I'm not looking at a map as I write this, but coming from PA wouldn't Jay hit Darien long before he reached Derby? It sounds as if he'd be going past Darien an hour before he reached you.....? Maybe I have a distorted map in my head? Darien's very close to NYC and Derby.....isn't.

Yes he did, but he didn't tell you he's coming from Scranton area. He'll be coming EAST on 84, breaking into CT up around Danbury. From there he's North of Darien and only has to drive South to get to the picnic.

He should be tying up with some of the cars coming to us out of NYS, New Milford or Danbury areas.

True, he could take Rt 7 south to Norwalk then 15 south to exit 36. Not sure who will meet up with him in the Danbury area. My offer is just another option.

Anyone out there that can meet up with Jay in or around Danbury?

I just spent some time mapping it out and it does look to me like 84 East to Rt7 is going to be the ticket.

John thank you for your offer but I'm quite sure I can't be in Derby that early. I wouldn't want to hold you up either.

I'll be picking my Dad up along the way, after all he got me interested in Z's as a kid and we are overdue for a day trip. It's going to be a great day!

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

Jay

Yayyy! Maybe we can get your dad to join, too. You don't have to own a Z to belong here, you just have to love and appreciate them.

He does love them. As a kid a few of his friends had Z cars (one of which is now my Z). I've heard a couple stories of his from those days, None of the stories involve racing against Ferraris in Hawaii though. That's a good one.

He never had a Z of his own though, maybe this will inspire him to get one.

No problem Jay. :) You will be saving at least 40 miles on your trip using RT 7.

I'm looking forward to seeing you and your Dad at the outing!
