I just received an e-mail from Long Island Cars (an events manager) with the 2017 car shows calendar. These shows include every type and classification of automobile, American muscle cars, foreign and domestics, antique/classic to street rods and rat rods, from new to old, customs and "one of a kind", and always some exotic's.

The Swap Meet section of these shows are like a car flea market with food vendors and new product vendors. I've seen everything from rusty ice skates to wooden hand planes to old engine analyZers to 45's being sold.

It's not unusual for there to be 100-150 vehicles at each meet. Well run, family oriented (no crazy loud music, and no burnouts or racing is allowed). Cars to be judged pay $20-$25. General entry fee is $8-$9.
And there's usually a car corral for "For Sale" vehicles. 8)

Here's the link I received:

I will gladly meet up and "caravan" with any member willing to make the trip. Some of these are on the north shore of the island and some on the south shore. You can pick and choose if you're so inclined. :D

Thank you, sir. Surely some of those can be fit into many of our calendars and it would be fun to tour The Island with some other Club members.

Q: Is Flowerfield anywhere near the Infirmary?

If anyone is interested as to where these places are, I'll try to give you some perspective on their locations:

-Bald Hill, Farmingville, NY: is 10 miles due south of the Port Jefferson Ferry (due south of Bridgeport,Ct.)

-Flowerfield, Saint James, NY: is 8 miles southwest of the Port Jefferson Ferry

-Belmont Raceway, Elmont, NY: is 8 highway miles southeast of the Throgs Neck Bridge

Although taking a ferry ride to cross the Long Island Sound is a good alternative to traveling down 95, I personally would prefer driving my 300ZX the longer distance (considerably more mileage) to the Throgs Neck Bridge and then getting onto one of the three parkway/highway/expressways available, to get to these destinations . But, that's just my opinion. :) I'm sure that others will possibly opt for the ferry to save ware and tear on the car and driver. Everyone has to determine for themselves, the "cost vs. comfort/convenience" ratio, which suits them best.

Feel free to post or PM me if you have any questions.

Howard
