 Well, if you have to get lost, it's more fun to do it in a Z.

We are a week away from this gathering. I will start watching the weather closely. This forum will be the only place to find out if I postpone to the Rain Date.
.
If the weather holds, come on down to this very informal meet at the place I work.

Things to keep in mind since this will be the first meeting during our new self service phase:

I will order some Pizzas up and ask for $2 per slice. (Covers my up front expense for the pizza, plates, napkins, delivery tip) If there is extra money in the end, I will forward to the club account for the future. If extra Pizza, I'll treat my coworkers the next day.

I will not have drinks available. Please bring your own, or use our vending machine at the Marina. Bring chair in case the weather is great and we stay outside.

When you drive through the neighborhood that leads to the Marina, please no speeding. 20 MPH....

We still have a lot of boats on land, so parking may be tight, but we can make it work. We are launching daily.

I'll post some more info early next week.

Looking forward to starting the season and kicking off the CTZCC 2017 new phase.

Keith,

Sure sounds good to me. Certainly looking forward to the first CTZCC event of the season. Hopefully the weather guru will be on our side.

Alan

I was hoping to make this kick off, though may be a little late due my Golf league (& pending if and how early I can get the other players to start). However, the current forecast is not very favorable for Wed PM!
When might a postpone to the next week rain date decision be determined?

I've been looking at the weather, 40% chance of rain starting at 8pm on one of the sources.

Something else I wasn't expecting, we had a late start this season at the Marina and still have a lot of boats on land.

Look for a post tomorrow to confirm or postpone in this forum thread.

SO THE WEATHER LOOKS COLD AND CLOUDY FOR LATE TOMORROW WITH CHANCE OF RAIN AS EARLY AS 8PM. SO I'VE DECIDED TO PUSH OUT FOR ONE MORE WEEK. NO USE BEING COLD AND DAMP. IN ADDITION, THE MARINA IS STILL A LITTLE FULL AND NOT QUITE READY FOR A MEET (SLOW START THIS SPRING) UPDATED POST BELOW

In order to get us together sooner than later, I'd like to invite you all to run some of that winter gas out of your Z and Cruise to the Marina. Remember as the club is taking an official hiatus for 2017+, this is an unofficial meet location offered by me, as a fellow club member.

When:
Wednesday, April 26th 6pm (Rain Date: MAY 3rd)

Where:
Island Cove Marina (the place I work)
47 Sunrise Ave
Old Saybrook, CT 06475
*easy access of I-95 and Route 9

A few special requests for attending:
-SPEED LIMIT ON SUNRISE AVE IS 20 MPH - go slower (It's a residential street, NO Speeding/Revving)
the Marina is at the end of the street
-In April we will have a lot of boats on land still and some customers working on them in the evening - we may need to adjust how we park around them, just know our customers have first priority. If you are asked to move please do so.
-The Good News: We paved most of the Driveway last summer so less DuZt.

Other than those requests:
-We have a nice lounge to gather in with a Large Screen TV, Tables and Chairs after enjoying the Z's outside
-I will not have beverages available, so pack a cooler. We have a soda machine.
-I probably will have some Pizza's delivered and ask for a nominal donation to cover only the cost of a slice or three. (I'll update this as the Meet gets closer)

Stuff we can do:
-Partner Clubs may present their 2017 schedules in person, or send to me in a PM and I'll pass the info along.
-Members can announce a Fun Run of their Own or talk about a current Z project

I hope you can make it, If you think you will, please chime in here, I'd like to get an idea of what to expect for the 1st unofficial CTZCC member meet.

If all goes well, I'll invite you all back again later in the Zeason!

-Slower than 20MPH down Sunrise Ave - Please.

Wise decision!
No sense taking chances on unknowns :?: which would deter :? some and just make it less then enjoyable
for those who show. If things do change such that it would have worked out... at least you err'd on the conservative side.
And having a back up Plan B covers you.
I do look  forward to attending next week. My arrival timing will depend on what I can arrange  with golf league timing.

Z Ya'll next week!

Keith,

You made the correct call. Hopefully next Wednesday will be a bit warmer and allow me to drive with the top down. Zee all on the 26th.

Alan

I may actually be able to attend as a result of the date change. It's been a while - I'm long overdue for a Z-related event. In fact, my very first CTZCC function was at Keith's marina... waaaay back in 2010, I believe. Great place with a great host. That was right around the time Lucky 13 was 're'-discovered.

Hope to make it next week!

It will be great to zee you again, Myron ~ it's been too long.

I have 41*F, constant rain, 12kt winds and choppy 3ft seas all across my back yard.
Good call, Keith.

Frank

Keeping my fingers crossed for a sunny day in the 80's, but unless it snows, it's got to be better than today's dreary weather.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week - thanks again, Keith!
