For me thats 2:15 in the wrong direction  . . . . . from where I live.
It would be easier for me to meet either in Binghamton or Syracuse as then I will be getting closer the whole time I am driving.
I can easily take 88 south west from Albany or stay on 90 and go to Syracuse.
Its my problem because I live north and east of most of you almost on the mass line.

OK, I have happily just been corrected ~ there happen to be more than a doZen favorable places to meet up at the intersection of I-84 and Rte17 in New York without going into Middletown. We can pick maybe a gas station or a restaurant there. Thanks to those who are paying more attention than the rest of us.

I've been shown a 250-store shopping mall right at that intersection which will serve our needs very well. We will use Galleria at Crystal Run, 1 Galleria Drive, Middletown (or Wallkill) NY 10941, as our meeting place. There's a Dunkin Donuts shop which would make a likely spot for us to wait for each other.

This mall is perfectly placed for our purposes. We can access it either from exit #4W off I-84, or "around the corner" from exit #120 off Rte17.

I agree with you, that the best route for you would be to stay on 90 from the Albany area. We can all BS after we all get past the Syracuse area. The main objective is to try to have a safe and enjoyable trip. :D

Can't wait.

Both Mike (my son) and I have been registered for the event since April and we both have reservations at the Holiday Inn in Webster for Friday and Saturday nights. I am definitely in favor of taking the southern route as well.

Frank T, you and I live near the valley. Do you (and others) want to meet Friday AM say at the Heavenly Donuts on Rout 34 in Derby or the Dunkin Donuts further west on 34 near Villa Bianca? From there we can head west to get to 84 West.

Any other ideas are fine with us. Just pick the TIME and PLACE and we are golden!

I'll even let you listen to my pipes!

I think the cute little blonde girl in the pink Corvette was the best driver of all! - Awesome

Orange Derby donut shack works well for me, John. I should be on the road not later than 0900, if you can do that?
We can sort of compute our ETA at the 84/17 junction and try to mesh with Howard coming up from Longgg Island. I hope Karl gets at least one other car to ride with him on the Northern route. Maybe Big Al? I don't know yet which route Paul will want to take, or when, but he's certainly welcome to come along with us.
There isn't any iron-clad necessity for a whole bunch of Zs to ride together ~ I've done the trip both ways alone. It's just more gooder if you have friends nearby to warn you if any partz fall off your car. :( If we got three cars in each group, one could take the high road and one take the low road and we'll be in Webster beforrrre ye.

I will stay there Sunday nite and leave Monday morning. I will go only as far as Syracuse, where I will stay over another night on business, then drive home alone on Tues.

I think.

Last time I went there they had the heaviest thunderstorm on record. It rained so hard, it washed decals off people's windows. I slept thru the entire thing and never heard a peep. Next morning I found my Z in the parking lot, pressure-washed for free. I can't remember when it had been so clean! I hope John T can arrange for that to happen again this year.

Lets plan on meeting at the Heavenly Donut shop around 9:15 AM on RT 34 Derby CT Friday July 8th?
My cell phone number is 203-751-3015. Let me have your cell number so we can reach each other during the journey if needed. :)

Thunderstorm car wash? Maybe :|

Hail? Not a fan

ONE MORE WEEK!!!! :D

Big Al will be coming north from Pennsylvania and will meet us there. That leaves Paul and Patty to decide if they want to drive the northern highway route or the southerntier route. Looks like 6 cars altogether and only one taking the northern route so far.

Yea and your point is ? ? ? ?
No idea what Paul is up to and I guess Bob C isn't making the trip . . . . . What time you figure you will be in the Syracuse area Frank or Binghamton for that matter?

Heard from Paul. He's strongly considering leaving a day early for personal business and maybe waiting for us at Binghamton. That's where Karl has indicated he might want to meet us, too. That would work nicely.

From Bng'ton the 5 of us could run 81N into Homer NY, turn left (Nw) onto rte41 into Skaneateles, turn W on 20 into Auburn, then decide whether to take the thruway or drive north up to Lake Ontario. From Ontario we'd turn left (w) and drive rtes 104 and 404 directly into Webster, where we'd catch up with Big Al and check into the hotel. It would be sorta cool if we could all cruise into Webster together, but not mandatory.

A few highways, but mostly country side routes wandering thru little towns, following rivers, driving thru valleys, following big lakes. Beautiful in summer, terrifying when it snows.

Great news from Paul ~ he's not leaving a day ahead so he can join up with us either at the donut shop or at the I-84/Rte17 shopping center where we'll meet with Howie.
Paul has made extensive runs thru the central NY / finger lakes area and recommends we take the route I described above (Homer, SkinnyAtlas, Auburn, then straight North all the way up to Lake Ontario. Nicer route if it isn't raining. I also contacted John T and asked him about Rte 104, which had been tarred gravel one year I drove it  but he says it's paved now and offers beautiful scenery along the lake.

I don't know what part of PA Big Al will be coming up from, so I can't guess if there's anyplace along our route we might hope to meet him. It would be so cool if we could get all 6 cars together. One year they let Paul, Al and me lead the trip down to WGI and sit together on the front row. Our cars were red, white and blue  . We felt so cool 8)
