Save the Date!!

Please join some of the finest classic & sports cars of the Northeast in a road rally fundraiser to benefit ColinsLaw.org. The day will include a poker run, with stops at five seaside locations and a catered barbecue with music at Fort Getty State Park.

Details:
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: Registration between 10:00am and 11:30am
Donation: $100/Car & driver. Additional passengers at $50/person (both include BBQ)
Discounts: Register and pay by September 1st and receive a 10% discount on the above rates. (Make checks payable to "ColinsLaw.org" and mail to ColinsLaw.org, 143 Hamilton Ave, Jamestown, RI 02835)

Starting point: Registration will happen at Beavertail State Park at the southern tip of Jamestown RI. If you've never visited Beavertail, it is a real treat!

From there, cars will cruise at their own pace to 5 scenic locations throughout RI, including Sakonnet Vineyards and points along Newport's coast.

At each location cars will pick up a poker card. The car that presents the best hand at the end of the day wins $300.

Each entrant also qualifies for a $100 gift card.

The barbecue will be held at Fort Getty State Park and is being catered by Chopmist Charlies', a local Jamestown favorite.

All net proceeds will be used to further the mission of ColinsLaw.org, which is to promote safer roads through education and technology.

ColinsLaw.org is a registered 501c3. Accordingly, participants will receive a tax-deductible acknowledgement letter for the value of their donation (amount contributed less value of food provided).

Let me know if you have questions.

I hope to see many of you there!

Registrations are starting to flow in! Please note that due to the need to give an accurate headcount to the caterer, pre-registration is REQUIRED for this event. You don't need to pay up front, but we do need you to register. You can easily do so at colinslaw.org.

Hope to see you there!!

From Robin Foote:

Dear CTZCC Members,

I wanted to make sure that all members, including those who did not make Saturday's excellent club show, were made aware of the upcoming ColinsLaw.Org Road Rally Bebefit Event on October 3 in the Newport, RI area. While there is a requested tax-deductible donation of $100 for Car & Driver, there is a 50% to 80% chance that every Driver entered will win a Sponsor Gift Card of $50 to $350+ value. We have nearly $2,000 in Sponsor gifts that will be drawn at random at the Catered Buffet starting at 3:30 PM. These gifts include $50 dinner at any of 10 excellent area restaurants, jewelry from Alex and Ani, free Newport hotel stays and much more. There's also a separate $100 Cash Gift Card drawing and don't forget the $300 winning Poker Hand. All in all, there is little risk for big rewards in addition to the great rally stops scheduled and the delicious afternoon Buffet. :D
Please go online to: http://www.colinslaw.org to get a peek of how much fun this event will be and for a truly great cause for highway safety in memory of one of the clubs most passionate members - Colin Foote. I hope to see as many of our CTZCC Club member brothers and sisters as possible join in. And don't forget you must pre-register by September 15 to save 10% on the registration cost. Last day to register at full donation price is September 28 - the caterer needs a head count. We have nearly 20 cars already signed up and we expect another 20 to register by the 28th. Thank you so very much. Robin Foote. Please call me at any time at 401-741-1678

Here is a listing of the sponsors for this event. If you decide to attend, you have a very good chance of winning one of these sponsor gifts!

We now have over $4,000 in sponsor gifts that will be given away to participants at this event!!! This means that based upon today's registration numbers, every single car/driver participant is GUARANTEED to receive at least a $50 value product or service from a sponsor - and - this does not include the $100 Cash Gift Card drawing OR the winning $300 Poker Hand.

It's not too late to sign-up. To do so go to www.colinslaw.org

Hope to see you there!!!

I am extremely disappointed to communicate that this event has been cancelled. The weather on both the event date and rain date is forecast to be heavily overcast and rainy.

The board discussed other potential dates, but it just didn't work with the caterer, volunteers, venues for the Poker Run and other logistics.

Pasted below is a message from Robin Foote to those that had registered:

Dear ColinsLaw.Org Registered Participant,

It is with great disappointment that I announce to you that the Board of Trustees has unanimously decided to CANCEL the OCTOBER 3 ROAD RALLY/POKER RUN/CATERED BUFFET BENEFIT EVENT UNTIL NEXT YEAR. The weather forecast is calling for extremely heavy rains starting later this week right through Sunday, October 4 (our Rain Date).

I know you share our extreme disappointment as we had such a wonderful event scheduled and ready for either day. We fully expect that our nearly 30 sponsors will maintain their support for our event now re-scheduled for next year 2016 on October 1 - Saturday - with a rain date of Sunday, October 2.

As a participant driver, passenger or individual, we will be sending out to you a check in the amount of your donation whether you pre-paid by Check, PayPal or Credit Card. In this way we will know for sure that your full donation amount was returned to you. In this regard, I would greatly appreciate it If you would kindly send me your proper mailing address so that we may get checks out to you by no later than next Tuesday, October 6.

I hope you will mark your calendar for next year to join us for our 2016 ColinsLaw.Org Classic & Sports Car Road Rally Extravaganza which is guaranteed to be as wonderful, if not even better than what was planned for this year.

Thank you once again for your incredible support of our organization and its mission to "Save Lives Through Safer Roads". We expect that there may be some new legislation upcoming this legislative session regarding an expansion of red light safety camera technology to more than just Charlestown, RI where the 2 intersection cameras recorded over 500 "incursions" this past July alone. We will keep you appraised of this and seek your support because we know this technology changes driver behavior and saves lives.

Thank you,

Robin Foote

Well, it was defiantly a great disappointment for all involved and those of us hoping to participate. :(

I'm hoping that the fact that Ross has more publically announced the Plan B rescheduled date, that effectively places him in charge of new dates' weather. :?: If so, his reputation for great weather coordination with events will continue ensure no issues next year. :D  Speaking of his reputation for such abilities, one has to wonder if that is merely a perk/added benefit of working for a religious organization.?!
