I am pleased to announce the venue of our next meeting, which was a fan favorite from last year: On Track Karting in Brookfield, CT!!!

100 Silvermine Road
Brookfield, CT 06804
203-740-8100

Check them out at:
http://www.ontrackkarting.com

Schedule:
6:30pm to 7:30pm Hang out and catch up with friends in parking lot
7:30pm Pizza and drinks in the "paddock" by the indoor track
8:15pm Registration and safety video
8:30pm Kart racing (optional - great to watch as well)
9:00pm Wrap-up

Before you start thinking that these are little electric go-karts with no speed, they are Sodi GT5s with gasoline engines and no governor. Top speed is about 40 MPH, which is pretty damn fast for an interior track.

Pizza and drinks will be picked up by the club but races on the track will cost $16.00 per person for each eight minute race. You do NOT have to race - it's also fun just to watch. This is a group rate which is a 20% discount over the "walk-in" rate. Also, drivers must wear a head sock, so you'll need to pay $2.00 for one (which you can keep) or bring one from last year if you still have it.

LIKE LAST YEAR, THERE WILL BE A TROPHY AWARDED FOR THE CLUB MEMBER WITH THE FASTEST SINGLE LAP TIME (the man to beat is Colin Gentle Jr. :D )

On track Karting provides everything you will need to race including a head sock, helmet and neck brace (in various sizes).

Please plan on joining us for a fun-filled evening and your chance to hold kart bragging rights until next year!

Now by the looks of it, you can fit a Z car on that track. :P Sounds interesting, I shall attend, or at least try like heck.

OK. Here is the trophy for fastest lap time.

Who is going to unseat Colin Gentle Jr?

Probably Colin Gentile Sr. 8)

I undrstnd our member Dave Levinson will make the trip up from Philly to attend this meeting. He's completed his #33 Bob Sharp tribute 510 race car (which we'll see at our LRP Bob Sharp Day this year) and his dad was the early cinematographer who put together the 1971 film "Some People Collect Stamps". Dave has had his dad's original 8mm film digitally converted to disc and debuted it at last year's ZCon in Nashua NH. It was a smash hit with all who viewed it. Simply thrilling to watch the great Bob Sharp at the peak of his form, running away from 427 Cobras and Corvettes in his 1970 Datsun 240Z to take the checkered flag. Dave is a real live-wire himself, so for those who haven't met him yet, he's just one more reason not to miss this month's great meeting.

So many gentlemen racers here, and no trash-talking.....yet......which leads me to:

I have a nice spot cleared on the mantel, right next to last year's trophy. It will be right at home.

I have a feeling jtang and CygnusX1 will have a target painted on my helmet! And I think Dad's been over at the Brookfield track secretly practicing.

Looking forward to it...hoping the weather holds so the old Z's can come out. And thanks Jim and Ross for putting this together. See you next week!

Cheers,
Colin

Hey, would this meeting fall under the purview of our two Motorsport Co-Directors? :D

Like last year's event at On-Track, all the credit and gratitude for this year's meeting goes to Ross. All I did was stay out of his way!

Guess who's driving up from Philly to join us at this meeting?

I wont be able to sneak up on you guys either since I had to pull the glasspacks off in order to get out of my driveway (dont ask me how I got this video of my cars header pushed forward so much you could see into the exhaust port. Who needs a color tune! )

My cars going to be a hot mess since im prepping for paint but ill be there and try to get "Zorro" there too. Not very close to home but not very far from work. First time karting so watch out for beginners luck!
