After the experience this week, I am awfully tempted. But driving 3,000 miles across the country is probably not going to happen. I'd need six extra days just to get there and back!

But I am definitely thinking of attending. John Jeffries suggests flying out and renting a Mini for the autocross. Paul Mackin thinks there is a place that rents 350Z's for not a lot of money.

So there are definitely some interesting ideas floating around. Thinking of maybe combining it with a family vacation.

The rates on the ocean front Kona Kai hotel are incredible - $149/night. The San Diego Z club advises making reservations early.

["..driving 3,000 miles across the country is probably not going to happen"]. I've done it 3 times in my car and honestly, I don't know if I'd survive it again.
But we could stop and meet a whole lot of distant CTZCC members along the way!!! :D

We were planning on it, even if we had to drag you.

Options I have thought of.......1. Caravan out there. 2. Fly out and rent a 350z for I think $180 for the week, 3. Fly out, buy a non rusted Z and caravan back. Option 2 is the most reasonable, especially if you have the wife along, instead of wasting time on the road. If we did the road trip, then there is a lot you want to see and it could drag on for days. Of course, if you have 2 people taking turns driving, you can be there in 2 days. Anyways, BOOK the HOTEL first..........then we have a year to figure it out. It cost nothing to cancel the hotel a week before if you decide not to.

Registration opens in just a few days on January 15th! I'm thinking of bringing the whole family and making a full week of it. Who's up for a trip to San Diego?

We could have the first official meeting of the West Coast chapter of the CT Z Club!?

Well, for those of you not wanting to make the 3000 mile trip to southern California, I would like to offer you a 300 mile alternative:

The Z Car Club of Rochester's MOTOR FEST WEEKEND!

Here is our preliminary schedule:

FRI 7/18: Kickoff party 6pm at the host hotel.
SAT 7/19: Morning road rally from the hotel to Watkins Glen International, three laps on the track. Return trip to include a stop at Sharpsite Motorsports.
SAT EVENING 7/19: Dinner buffet followed by screening of a recently rediscovered film of the 1970 SCCA runoffs at the hotel ballroom. Guest speakers.
SUN 7/20: Motor Fest car show at the Elks Lodge on Jackson Rd. in Webster.

We've been doing this for many years now and it gets better each time! We hope that you will join us. Complete details and registration information to follow shortly.

:D

I will be doing the 300 mile show instead, got to much on the plate to make it to Cali this year. From past experience the Rochester show is always a blast, even if you don't bring a Z. I will defiantly be bringing the Z. I like the schedule this year, for we can leave all our belongings in the hotel room instead of riding on the track with a hatch full of luggage and the cooler..........sorry, no ice cube trail to follow me this time.

Adam,

It's times like this that you need to get your priorities straight. Family vacation or attending ZCON with your brethren?

I'll see you in San Diego. :D
