Hi everyone,

The Fairfield County Sports Car Club is hosting a "Street Survival" Event next month. It is sponsored by Tire Rack, Sports Car Club of America, and the BMW Car Club of America.

This event is for drivers between the ages of 15-21 and is designed to teach proper car control for new drivers. Auto accidents are the #1 killer of teenagers in the US.

The date is Sept. 21 and the cost is $75. We will be using the lots in Stratford, CT.

See http://streetsurvival.org/ for more information about the Street Survival program. Let me know if you want more information on how to register or if you have specific questions about the event. I can put you in contact with the event organizers.

Thanks for reading!

:? Why are they waiting until September to do this when all the kids are back at school? Prefer they'd do it in August when they're all home for summer vacation.
Is there an age limit? Can adults register?

Disregard:

"Do parents have to attend?
While we cannot require that you come to the class we strongly suggest that you do. We encourage you to sit in the classroom sessions and listen to those presentations. Even though you have been driving for many years, we feel that there are things that you might learn from experiencing these with you new driver".

I don't know what goes into picking the date. You can check the list of cities that are hosting Street Survivals (it is a national organization) if the teen in question is in a different place.

It looks like they are targeting drivers specifically 21 and under with a driver's license. There is limited space available, so I think they want to keep it geared toward those who need it the most (after a few years on the road, we have generally gained enough experience to keep us out of trouble).

I've been driving for more than 50 years and made almost every mistake you can name and NEVER stop learning how to drive. I would pay to attend this without hesitation.
