Definitely hopped. Always on the same corners. Can we blame the concrete?

Yea definitely got some side hopping - there were two corners in particular- I think it was just breaking the tires loose, but not quite enough to get it to fully oversteer- felt like it definitely lost some time with those pesky hops

That was a hoot! Thanks Jim, Ross, etc. for putting this together. Had a great time. The key to that course was the late apexes...I think (=

Found a great place on the Mantel for the trophy...unless HOLLYWOOD is a CTZCC member and files a protest!...LOL

Humble suggestion for next time - get the NYZCC involved - and do a team competition! Best combined best lap times wins. If 15 CTZCC members participate, and say 17 NYZCC members participate, then it would be the top 15 from each team would count. Boom. Done. Could be a great wintertime event too.

And regarding, the kart 'hopping' - when you put more turn into the steering wheel mid-corner, I believe that causes the chassis to bind up and start bouncing. Try to brake in a straight line (no trail braking in karting) and 'smoothly flick' the kart into the turn...in the case of the Brookfield track - late apex. Could be chassis settings too...rear track size, axel too soft or too stiff, etc...

It is tough to experiment when you only have a few minutes and are trying to drive the wheels off the kart for best time. More time with less 'pressure' would allow for a bit more experimentation.

BTW - If anyone is serious about the next level of karting (outdoors with 28HP on tap), feel free to ask me any questions. I'm no pro, but did dabble for a few years. ekartingnews.com is a great resource too. I would be interested in selling my PTK Rotax kart with all the goodies if someone's interested....just not enough time for me these days.

Colin, thanks for the tips! I had feeling you'd know!

I'll have to give it a shot next time. I always forget to speed up the inputs during karting!

Fantastic job karting! It was great to follow you for a lap or two before we hit traffic and got separated. My fastest lap was when I was stealing your line at the beginning of the heat :).

I have some good Italian recipes that can cure Kart Bounce. Of course you may lose a few tenths off your lap times, but hey...it was a blast!

I agree with Colin. Late apex and roll on the gas right as you get into mid corner to give you a lot more speed down the following sections.

Sure wish I could have made this one ~ it sounded like a lot of fun. Did the new guyz get to meet Bob Sharp? Did Bob race? Can't wait for the pictures! :D

Congratulations Colin, I hear you smoked them all. Hope they took a picture of you on the podium.

Frank

I had a great time last night and I'm happy we've found a new venue for club meetings!

Nice seeing everyone again! The great weather aided in bringing the Z's out of the garages in droves and onto the road where they belong.

Here are my pictures from last night. I didn't want to "blind" any of the drivers so went without the flash indoors.

Wow thanks for the photos Phil!

I love these meetings! I feel so energized about working on the car some more afterward.

Thanks for a good shoot, Phil. That was lot of speed to capture in low light.

OUTSTANDING!!!

What a great time!

Not since Aug/2010 do I recall any monthly meeting which generated 150+ pictures, 1400+ views, 50 Z cars and nearly 70 members! What a wonderful event. Great pics, Uncle Phil (as usual). How in the world did we feed all these people?! Kudos to the CTZCC Officer staff for putting this one together!

Every now and then everything seems to come together nicely. This was one of those occasions. Great weather, great participation, great parking lot, great pizza (although it came out in stages), Bob Sharp and the chance to drive without speed limits.

The Z gods were shining on us!

We missed you Frank

I surely missed y'all too, Ross (and I haven't had a piZZa in a month).
But imminent basement floods take precedence over fun. :?

Y'all are lucky I wasn't there tho ~ I would have captured the top three positions! 8)

Whose blue 350 has that Okinawa plate on it, and has Keith's old 300 shown up for any of our meetings yet?
