I went over to the Berlin Turnpike with a friend last night...I actually came across Nara and his 370. For those of you in the Hartford/Newington area, a bunch of people meet up at the pike to just talk cars all night. You don't really see too many oldies, but there were a few Zs out there.

Is the location a secret?

Location is not a secret. I didn't specify because it is literally a bunch of places all up and down the pike. Taco Bell, Mc Donalds, Bob's, LA Fitness etc. When one lot fills, we move on to the next.

Not familiar, but if you're saying it, then it must be true!

I think different car makes congregate in different parking lots along the Berlin Turnpike in the summer. This area was know for it's drag racing activities during the muscle car years. I've heard Mike Joy mention it several times on the air while covering the Barrett Jackson auctions.

You're probably right Phil. I don't think there were enough cars there last night to be separated by make. Maybe on warm summer nights.

["Not familiar,"]

Throughout GB, it became popular for motorcyclists to gather at certain Pubs, have a pint, and wait until the parkinglot ('car park') filled with other bikes. Then they would all tear off down the road to the next Pub, and repeat. First arrival got his beer bought by the last arrival. The practice became known as 'cafe racing'.
Over the years, kids began chopping their common street bikes down to lightweights and beefing the engines up to high performance, in order to be the 'first guy there'. The bikes began to share peculiar similarities in order to make them more competitive. Hence the name "Cafe Racer" was born to describe these bikes, which all started to look alike.
Solo saddles, sculpted tanks, clip-on handlebars (must be below the top of the tank), and the absence of anything non-essential, came to be commonly referred to as a Cafe Racer. The 'sport' (if you consider drinking and driving a 'sport') caught on around the world and is currently very big here in the USA. It's a cult thing, and a good way to spend a lot of money, but I find the bikes wonderful in themselves.

This sounds like a perfect event for a summertime "Fun Run"...get a group of Z's to meet at a pre-arranged time and place nearby and then caravan to one of the popular locations and make a grand entrance!

I'd be all for that, Jim ~ get a bunch of Zs together and just leapfrog from one roadside restaurant to another, like the Brits with their bikes. A hotdog here, a milkshake there, a hamburger farther down the road...

("Ton Up" refers to going 100mph on a bike. Some people use that as a requirement for a motorcycle to honestly earn the title of Cafe Racer. Not strictly subscribed to by everyone).

That's awesome Frank, thanks for the knowledge (again)!

We should absolutely do this! On warmer nights in the summer, there are tons of cars. A lot of newer imports, but the occasional oldie as well.

Let's look into this as it warms up!
