The 510 sedans were uncommonly well-balanced, and performed well even with stock suspension. Your modifications will probably give your car surprising results. Can't wait to see it run.
Noise is a concern, but as far as I recall there is a fairly high limit. The concern is for being 'good neighbors' to any local residents ~ the clubs don't want to disturb nearby residential neighborhoods with open exhaust on weekends.
The level of 92dBs comes to mind (which is about as loud as a quiet rock band), so if you have any type of muffler system on your NickelDime car at all, you should be well under that limit. I might be wrong about that number ~ you should ask other AutoCrossers or read the regulations to be sure.

File comment: Two doors or four, the 510s were almost perfectly balanced front/rear.

That was a great list for checking things over- gives me some check points to run over tomorrow incase I need to fix anything before hand.

It does have a muffler on it - a flow master - not sure what series though hopefully its quite enough.

Counting down the days!

Also a good video that sort of gives you a sense of what to expect on course! This is the big lot, by the way:

^Try and spot me in the video... hehe.

Also sorry for all the ninja edits... I always think of something else to say after I hit the post button.

Devon, I did some searching in the scca rulebook.

With a gutted interior you are looking at one of the "Prepared" categories.

For EP (E-Prepared) they have this listed:

"510 (1.6L, 1.8L, & 2.0L, PL510 chassis) (1968-73)
Alt cyl head: P/N 11041-22010, 11041-U0600-A, 11041-U0602-SV,
11041-21901, or 11041-N7120
510 (A10 chassis) (1979-81)
Alt cyl head: P/N 11041-22010, 11041-U0600-A, 11041-U0602-SV,
11041-21901, or 11041-N7120"

My guess is EP! You may want to ask some of the veterans at the Rookie School if you want to make sure though. As far as I know, the full prep (level 1) allows any carb. setup and any transmission so it should work.

Thanks for finding that Justin-

I updated my registrations to reflect that, but I will confirm with them at Rookie school-

Going to toss the wheels back on her tonight to double check that my wheel bearings are good- ment to check them before I took them off originally but forgot and jumped in on the other work. So as long as there are no issues there I should be good to go.

Didnt here back from John- I will give him a call if I dont hear from him today.

I just added the registration link for Event #1 onto the first post of the thread.

A note: Annual membership to the FCSCC is $35 per year. One of the perks for being a member is that you get $10 off each event's registration (from $40 to $30). So if you plan on running at least 4 events, you'll be making money back!

Registration for the rookie school closes Thursday and the 1st event closes on Friday! On-site registration is available but I believe the price jumps up ~$10 (not totally sure at the moment). The rookie school is space limited, so I recommend signing up online to reserve that spot (and save some money)!

Was a great weekend of driving- a bit chilly on saturday for Rookie School, but it really helped me get a feel for the 510 before actually racing on Sunday-

Sunday was really fun- Lots of runs- good sun- great people

Here is a link to one of the photo galleries - a couple shots of Justin in there as well as me and my 510- not sure if anyone else on here was there

Whoops, meant to post up something but have been wiped out from the events.

It was a good weekend of motorsports! Sunday was great. I took 1st E-Street Prepared, outrunning a foxbody mustang that was being co-driven by a father and son team by a nice margin. To be fair, they were not using their Hoosier A6's but were running some sort of street tire. I was running on brand new Direzza Z1 Star Specs, which is a competitive street tire.

My car didn't fall apart, which means I must have put everything back together right... I'm also awaiting the scoring information as well. My driving was a little rough and I hit a lot of cones (whoops), but overall the car was behaving nicely. I found at the end of the day that my slaloms were pretty bad and I was consistently late with my steering work throughout the day. Always learning... I really can't wait to get this LSD installed because the acceleration out of long sweepers is seriously hindered by the infamous "one wheel spin" of the open differential.

It was good to see a lot of friendly faces again as well! I am very glad you had a great time, Devon!

I had to go to NY this weekend, so I missed this completely. I wanted to see your 510 run ~ were you happy with it?

Was super happy with it- still a pretty big learning curve for me as I learn the car and how to run the courses- really want to get a couple more events under my belt and some more seat time before I start to think about what to do next- they really are great handling cars

always cool to be the oldest car there too- pretty sure I took that by a decent margin

running her at full throttle through the back slalom on saturday was really fun- sounds so good from inside the car - wish my GoPro hadnt messed up and I had some better footage

good news is I think Im hooked lol so I will definitely be at more of the races
