BTW, I spotted another S30 parked in front of F40 in this weeks episode of Chasing Classic Cars. This one was possibly yellow or orange, not the silver S30 we saw parked out there in an episode last year. I have never seen a Datsun on the F40 property, surprised that they show up during filming though... I need to stop in and visit with Wayne again...

Phil, I am trying to get a few cars together from my area for this C&C tomorrow morning. Will you be able to make it?

BTW: I just put a standard "A" cam from a 280Z into my turbo engine and it really woke up!

Dave, sounds like a fun trip! I'm actually less then 20 miles away from F40. Not sure my Z is ready to be seen in public yet, she needs a good wash and some interior parts re-installed. The cold air intake is secured with a shoe string since I prefer not to run over it if it falls out!! I'll have to see what's on the calendar for tomorrow. What time do you plan to arrive? My understanding is that Wayne is not always there for these due to his travel schedule.

I am trying to get a riding partner, or small group together. If I do go, I will be there 7:30am or so. I'll have a decision a little later on. It's almost two hours from me but I think there will be interesting cars, and I would like to see the F40 facility.

Phil, I'll be heading up solo. I am shooting for 7:30 - 8:00 arrival at F40. Hope to perhaps see some of the CTZCC cars up there tomorrow. Z weather for sure! Let's show them some Z!

No promises Dave, but I'll see if I can swing by around 8:00.

At this point, I may be hit or miss myself. Let's see what the alarm does to me at 5:30AM. Really tired from a long day today.

Well, nobody HAS to get there at dawn, do they? I mean, the thing runs till noon, if I recall. I hope to casually swing in there about 10 or 11.

This was a perfect day for visiting F40 in Portland! Not too hot, not too cold, brilliant sunshine for pictures.

I saw some really nice nostalgic machinery, which I attached photos of here. I was very impressed by the "Twinny Mini" replica. Back in 1963 John Cooper stuck a second engine in the rear of his Mini Cooper and made it a 4-wheel-drive monster. It had about 200 hp in a 1500lb Mini, with all 4 wheels driving it. Cooper took it out on the highway and wrecked it at over 140mph () and nearly killed himself. There are only 4 of these in the WORLD, and this is one of the better-engineered examples.

I also ran into our member Josh H. in his 280Z Turbo car. Got to follow him thru Middletown and hear his outrageous exhaust. (Yes Mike T, I told him about your Millennium Falcon!).

There were some very special cars there today, including a great Transporter from the old British Racing Team.

Altogether a great day for a ride out there.

Frank
