Sorry I couldn't make it Frank. Easter duties overrule fun activities today. Out of curiousity was Wayne Carini there? How was the turnout? Any interest in your Z?

Yeah, I've got pics but I'm having trouble transferring them onto here. Pretty frustrating, actually. The Mini is the only one which has "stuck" so far. Give me some time.........

The original AC Ace was the car upon which Carroll Shelby based his Cobra. He raced these ACs in the 1950s and loved the chassis, but felt the 6cyl engine was underpowered. He had a better idea.....

Neat little 1960 MGA Twin Cam has been restored. The originals burned oil, got poor mileage, ate timing chains and fried their pistons, but produced 108hp. Post-production research discovered a vibration at certain engine speeds caused one SU carb to shake, which frothed the fuel bowl. That led to a lean mixture which burned the domes of the hi-compression aluminum pistons. Reducing the compression ratio to 9:1 helped, but cut power.

Today's technology solved all of those problems, so a restored Twin Cam is a reliable, hot little number.

IF you can find one!

'58 Vette seems to have been in the same spot for my last 3 annual trips to F40 Motorsports. Lusted over in its day (and costly today), I guess this just isn't the proper venue for a 'glass American car ~ even if it was a hot number.

The '58 Fuelie squeezed 283 hp out of a 283 cubic inch OHV V8, the first American car to produce 1hp per c.i. They also offered a wonderful 348 V8 that year, with triple carbs (3x2) called TriPower.

No telling why this car isn't moving. Guess it's just over-shadowed by so much European finery.

Well, that's it. My computer is not letting me post any more of the photos I took this morning, for some reason. It tells me I "tried to upload an empty file" on 23 of my pictures. (??)

Sorry Josh, your wonderful 280Z Turbo car ain't gettin' on here today. And I had some good shots of some interesting cars, too. :x Frustrating.

Why did I ever quit drinking?

The British transport was the subject of one of the CCC episodes last year. If I remember correctly it was used as a training platform which traveled from dealership to dealership. Wayne bought it at an auction on the west coast and imediately tried to sell it at another west coast auction. He did stop by and let Jay Leno have a test drive first. It obviously didn't sell. Can't believe he had it transported across country!! It's been sitting there since.

Notice the 280zx to the left in the last shot as they're driving off!!

Does anyone know if you can just stop in and see the facility?

I have done just that, three times. Two other times I went with Uncle Phil or Mark Levine.

I can't seem to stay away from this place ~ cars change all the time, and they're never 'cheap' or 'common' ones. Always something exotic and rare to see there.

I volunteer to go with you anytime you get the bug. Bring your camera.

Well I'm bringing the pathfinder up for service at Middletown Nissan and I see its only 15 minutes away from there. So if the pathfinder gets done soon enough I was going to stop there before heading home.

DO IT. It would be sort of sinful to be that close and not stop in. It's only across the bridge, on the left.
