UPDATED! JOIN US OCTOBER 12, 2013!

Well, it's that time of year again for the second time. For what? the a.p.h.c.s.l.p.l.p.f.r.. For those who are not familiar, it's the "Apple Pickin', Hot Cider Sippin', Lunch Packin', Leaf Peepin' Fun Run"! This will be a fun run that the better half (or co-pilot) will enjoy.
We will start in Glastonbury at the Shop Rite parking lot on the East Hartford line, on to an orchard, then up Rt. 20 to Barkhamsted Reservoir, then to Norfolk to Haystack Mtn. State Park for spectactular views. To those who participated before, we will be taking the same route. This is a bring your own lunch this time, but if there is enough participation, we will change it to a potluck lunch the next year.
We'll gather in Glastonbury at 9:15 and leave by 9:30. We should arrive at Haystack by noon. After lunch, we can climb the short hike to the tower to see a 360 degree view of the Beautiful Litchfield Hills. Directions will be available on the day of the run.
E-mail me, if you are interested in attending so we don't miss anyone that day, at anytime before the date. Hope to get a great turnout. See the e-mails below for the route. I will have copies the day of the run C'mon Oct. 12th!.
Greg.

Great idea, Greg! Do I have to bring a co-pilot? An empty passenger seat leaves more room for hot cider....... 8)

Frank,
You are welcome to drive between the Dempsey's 350Zs. Our second seats will be occupied by confident professionals.
This sounds like a great ride.
Good thinking, Greg

Greg,
Is the starting address Shop Rite @31 Main St, East Hartford? I can't locate one in Glastonbury.
From there we will follow the crowd.
The only thing I know about Glastonbury is the Irish American Home for a perfect pint.

Hi guys,
Yes Alan. I do believe that's the one although I will get the exact address soon, along with the directions. Frank, you can ride W/ the co-pilot seat empty, but that means someone is going to miss out on a great experience being with you!! eh hem. The turnout so far sounds good. It should be a fun day with no deadlines except at 9:30 to leave. Please allow extra time to get there so we do not miss anyone. Arrival at 9:15 should be planned. If anyone has walkie-talkies, this would help the leader stay in touch with the anchor, so please let me know if any are available. Stay tuned. Greg.

Living in West Hartford and having a running Z leaves me little excuse to at least make it as far as Barkhamsted.

Sounds like a great trip. Count Carol & I in.
Have been thinking of a run to Barkhamsted anyway, used to be
one of our favorite spots.

John,
It gives me great pleasure to know that the founder of the original 240Z club of CT is now an active member of the CTZCC!!

Welcome aboard and I'm glad we found you (you probably didn't realize that you were lost - like Rick Morgan).

That's the good part about reaching a certain age group,
you don't realize your lost. Like yogi once said, "Be careful. If you don't
know where your going you might end up somewhere else".

Here it is! What you've been waiting for. The directions to Shop Rite!!
31 Main St., East Hartford.
From the north:
I 91 south to I 84 East. 1/2 mile to Rt 2 East.
Approx. 3 miles to exit 5D Rt 3 .
First exit (Main St. Glastonbury).
Turn right at the end of the exit.
1st left into parking lot past Home Depot.
Straight to Shop Rite.

From the South:
I 91 North to exit 25 (Rt 3 North, Glastonbury).
1 st exit after bridge.
Right at end of exit to 2nd light.
Right to first stop sign.
Right to entrance of parking lot past Home Depot.
Straight to Shop Rite.

From East and West:
I 84 towards Hartford.
Take Rt 2 East exit.
Follow remaining directions from North.

Once there, directions will be available for the tour. Don't forget lawn chairs, lunch, and if anyone has walkie - talkies, this would be helpful for the tour leader and anchor to keep everyone together.
Try to be there by 9:15 for prompt departure at 9:30.
The weather so far calls for a cool day. Perfect for HOT CIDER SIPPIN'.
After lunch at Haystack, the day is yours. On the way back, you can head east on Rt 44 towards Hartford, or West on Rt 44 to route 7 south along the beautiful Housatonic River towards Kent, New Milford, Danbury, and further points south.
If anyone hasn't RSVP'd, please do although not necessary. I would like to get a head count to let the orchard know for parking arrangements. You can still just show up that day anyway.
This looks like a great day. Hope to see everyone!!
Greg.
