Branson has a number of events every year: some for pickup trucks,
some for antiques, some for sporty cars, some for rods/customs, and
yes, a ZFest. And in an absolutely beautiful part of the country.

The ZFest is one event that Kathy and I were considering, preferably
as one stop among 2, 3, or more on a single trip. For example, "Mad
Mike" Taylor wants to help me set up a sequence basically down I-35,
to the Dallas, Cowtown (Ft Worth), Austin, San Antonio, and Houston
clubs. So as of now, count us in.

Beats the heck out of cold, snow, hail, sleet, ice, and all those other
four-letter words! (But Rick, sleet and ice aren't four-letter words.)
You're right, but they AVERAGE four letters!!!!

Took a look at the mileage and time. ZCON might be the winner this year (20 hours vs. 14 hours)...saves more than a few hours of driving and I love Savannah!!!! Deciding factor is heat & humidity in July. Anyone else wrestling with this decision??? Thoughts?

I've lost sleep over it. It doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me for either of them to hold such a big event in such miserable weather. More than half the early Zs were not airconditioned, but these guyz chooZe the deep South in mid-summer to hold major Z events.

Summer floods (Nashville) and tornadoes (Savannah) are other threats. I personally would not enjoy traveling 800-1,000mi to spend a weekend in 100*+ heat and humidity.

Why couldn't they either hold the summer event farther north (where it's cooler) or hold the deep south events in the Fall (when it's cooler)?

Just sounds like poor planning to me, or a lack of insight by the planning committee. Furthermore, WHY would I want to attend any future ZCons anyway? I'm still pretty bitter about last year's ZCon.

I have already seen what they thought of Lucky#13, and I don't have any BoomBox speakers or Lambo doors on my Z, so I have nothing they would be interested in, and they sure don't have anything I'm interested in.

I totally agree on the weather angle,Frank. The deep south in summer makes little sense. Branson I understand. They're just in it for the $$. The week before will be a hot rod show, the week after that, monster trucks, etc.
That being said, being part of the Lucky 13 Honor Guard holdz a very special appeal, not to mention goin' back to Texas.
I'm just sayin'...

I'm all for a long 20 hour trip. I really want to have a long road trip in my Z hot humid weather or not. Still a great story to tell. Bring plenty of water and sun block and sunglasses and you're good. And Frank we can show them what real Z's look like. S30's started it all.

Old Z's, even in stock form (seats filled with mystery hair), are deceptively comfortable on long trips. Reliable too.

Oh, agreed. I've driven my 240 across the USA twice and across Canada once. Except for sticking to the seatback, it was very comfortable. But driving for 8 hrs in 90* heat and humidity w/o AC wasn't fun then and would be worse now that I'm older.
