Phrog, what's the likelihood of having the Carrot ready to make this trip down Cape this coming spring?

Just learned that Arlo has lost his beloved wife of 43 years, Jackie Gurthrie, this past Sunday morning.

http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/i ... lksin.html

I remember seeing her picture on his HOBO's LULLABY album back in the 1970s. She was sitting on the porch of their country cabin with him, both barefoot, with their infant kid nearby. Will post that picture if I find it.

Jackie is reputed to have met Arlo when he performed at the restaurant she worked in. Before she even met him, she walked into his dressing room, introduced herself to his step-brother, and announced that she was going to marry Arlo some day. She married him on the front lawn, and they have remained married ever since 1969.

Just found this article. It's from 2006 but has interesting info about Alice Brock.

http://www.post-gazette.com/stories/ae/ ... re-460667/

I think it might be time for another day trip, either back to Stockbridge or out to Ptown. 8) Maybe we could take more people along with us this time. Sure would like to have the same ones go with me again! You guyz are fun!

stockbridge sounds like a good early fall fun run. If not scheduled too late
Carol & I would take the roadzter hapily.

how about trying to firm up a date ..... even a friday or monday so no conflicts with weekend shows etc.

This sounds like a great fun run. Checking Google...Stockbridge is 1.5 hrs from Meriden with a few options for best route. I like the "during the week" idea. There would be less traffic and Stockbridge might be a bit more sleepy. Weekends in the Autumn can be crowded.

I just spoke with Alice Brock! :D

I had hoped to make a quick run up to PTown and meet her, then be back here in time for the meeting on Wed. But her schedule this week doesn't happen to allow for that AND she's only open on weekends.

Soooo.....

I'm looking at a trip up and back (same day) during a weekend this month (Sept). Anyone who wishes to caravan along is certainly welcome, but I'll go alone if I must. I've had this (meeting Alice) on my Bucket List for more than 45 years, and it's just about time I stopped putting it off and got it done. Every day I get up, I'm another day older and I can't keep putting these important things off indefinitely.... 8)

It was a thrill to talk with her and we shared a couple of giggles, which made me want to meet her even more. I'll be taking that TShirt you guyz bought me at The Restaurant and asking Alice to autograph it. Then it's getting framed and hung on my I-Love-Me wall.

Anybody who wants to come along so they can be able to say they met the real Alice Brock, let me know what weekend day's convenient for you.

Frank

:D

I made this announcement at tonight's meeting, and invited however many people want to come along. Alice will love to zee all of us pull up in front of her little art shop. It will be really cool if we can get the same crew together we had last time, and multiply them by two or three!

So now the decisions begin: Make it a trip to the Restaurant and back, or make it a trip to Alice in PTown and back, or both?

And then, what days to do it? I want to do it in Sept, before it gets really cold out, and while the leaves are brilliant. If Laura Link makes it here from Germany in time, we could invite her too. (She's Thor's teenage daughter, who has landed an Au Pair job in Fairfiled for a year), but I think she will arrive in October. (?)

Anyway, we have a few more weekends in this month to make this work. I'm open to suggestions and want it to be as simple a plan as possible, so as many people can participate as possible.

Who's got questions or suggestions?

Frank

I doubt we'd be able to do more than Stockbridge. How about Sat. 21st.
For those who might do the Cape please note Bourne Scallop Festival on Cape Cod runs all that weekend in Bourne, MA.

I'll be tuned in.
