Correct Mike ~ about 3-4 hrs driving one way. We would leave in the morning (maybe about 10) and try to be back in the evening before dark. It's 4-lane highway 9/10 of the way, but we're staring into the sun both directions. If I have to go alone, no big deal.

The restaurant is a much easier trip. Only 100 miles north of B'port, we made it there in less than 2hrs last time. There were some beautiful roads on the way up and we got to play with the Zs a bit. We also made a stop or two along the way for watering purposes. People tried to buy our cars when we stopped. The church Alice lived in is just another 6 miles up the road in Great Barrington Mass. It's now the Guthrie Center for the Performing Arts and hosts many musical events each year. I also learned they offer Thanksgiving Dinner there each year, as well!!! :D

Stockbridge was also the home of famed painter Norman Rockwell, and there's a Rockwell museum there. The local stores also specialiZe in his paintings and memorabilia. Those of you who are having trouble convincing your wives that we're driving 200 miles for a piZZa, can also add that we're exposing ourselves to a cultured community and she should come along and see the pretty artwork. 8)

Here's another tidbit for the Stockbridge run. For those of us who've been to the Rockwell museum ..... Naumkeag is a large estate with extensive gardens ....... see below.

Is the 21st a go or not? Mega activities this month and next and Stockbridge
really should be scheduled ASAP. What do you think Frank?
Are you planning on doing P TOWN and back on the same day?
Jack

Hey Hey Frank,

Let's keep this wonderful idea alive over the winter. A run to Stockbridge and the Norman Rockwell Museum would be a great spring event to plan over the cold months ahead. There are plenty of places on the way up to stop and stretch, or even have lunch.
Even the young'uns, who might not be familiar with Norman Rockwell, would enjoy this wonderful bit of Americana.

My final miles, this year, are tomorrow as we head to Trumbull and winter berthing.

Stay safe, all.

Alan

Sounds like fun. I have visited the Norman Rockwell museum. It is a pretty cool place. As a child my uncle posed for Rockwell so it was pretty cool seeing his pictures at the museum.

Here he is on the Saturday Evening Post.

Have a Thanksgiving dinner which couldn't be beat, everybody.

Happy TurkeyDay, Alice Brock. An entire generation of Baby Boomers remembers you today.

Thanks for the memories

Frank

I sent a Turkey Day email to Alice Brock, and she replied today!
Picture me dancing like Snoopy!

Hey Frank,
Thanks for your good wishes. This year I went back to the Berkshires and had a big feast with dozens of old friends. It was wonderful. Best, Alice

:D

Haha! Yeah!
BTW, I actually visited Alice's shop in P-town last month shortly before Thanksgiving. I was unannounced and hadn't bothered to call or email her beforehand because it was an unplanned and spontaneous trip for me. Not only was she not there, but her shop is under construction and the front porch had been removed, so I couldn't even reach the front door to knock on it from the street.
Because she spends almost every TurkeyDay in the Berkshires at the old church, she was no doubt there this year and it was my own fault. I just happened to find myself on the Cape unexpectedly with a day to myself, so I drove up there to see if I could surpriZe her. The surpriZe was mine!
