Nobody there tonight except me; Kathy didn't even make it. So I just
mozed around talking to old friends/acquaintances and making new ones.

Been a while since we had a showing, anyone interested in this for tomorrow? I have an engagement at 8 but would love to hit it for an hour or two if the interest is there.

I was there last week, but the threat of rain kept everyone away. Only 10 cars showed up. Good weather expected tmrw, so I could be there. Car isn't running dependably but I guess I could push it if I had to.

Not gonna make it. It's unlikely I'll be at these until next spring or summer; class begins tonight...

Last night was the best show I've ever seen there. More than 220 cars showed up, with many new entries never before seen.

I met John and Bev in their Black Beauty, Mike in the Cool Z, and once thought I glimpsed Rick across the parkinglot, but by the time I got over there I couldn't find him. Might not have been him. My Z was not running reliably so I washed it but dared not take it.

There is only ONE MORE of these meetings scheduled, that being next Monday night. (Where has the season gone? ). But also next Monday night is the big event up in East Granby which is mentioned in another Post under this Forum, so if we go to that one, we will probably not show too much presence at this one (if any).

In any event, the position and impact of the upcoming hurricane might cancel both cruise-ins. We'll see.

The weather was perfect, humidity low, an accommodating light breeze was constant, and the mosquitoes were elsewhere eating other victims. My only complaint was that it seemed to get dark far too early and too quickly. No way to count the crowd, but it was wall-to-wall people and the 50/50 yielded $250 to some passer-by.

Here are some pix of a few of my favorite cars last night.

File comment: Possibly the quickest member of the Rapid Transit System in the 60s-70s, these 340V8 Mopars routinely ate my 383 Charger for breakfast back in the day. Engines wound up quicker than anything else on the road back then, giving neck-snapping acceleration.

File comment: Mighty GTO, 389 TriPower, 4spd. The original Muscle Car of 1963-4. This 1965-66 model was flawless.

My Z is now tied to the ground with cobwebs. Literally.

Mike Rosann and I attended this tonight and had a good time. Nearly 200 cars showed up, among them some rare beauties shown below:

File comment: Still my choice for Best in Show, this dazzling 1962 Corvette parked in exact same spot as last week.

File comment: The old slab-side Cobra was perfect from every angle.

File comment: For $22K, this is a lot of car. The dream car of my youth!

File comment: Fresh 302 4bbl, 4spd.

File comment: Beautiful Canadian "Aurora" hand-built replica '64 low-mileage Cobra was for sale at less than $22K. This was the best Fake Snake ever made.

File comment: Proof positive ~ Rochester's earliest diaphragm fuel injection system on a '56 Vette. Might be a transplant? Too grimy under there to tell. Only a handful of '56s had fuel, for the Sebring races that year. Rest had dual quads on 265V8.
IMG_0248.JPG
IMG_0248.JPG [ 107.31 KiB | Viewed 7558 times ]
File comment: Something about a ratty interior that makes you feel at home in a barn find. Steering wheel is not stock ~ a real improvement over the original.
IMG_0249.JPG
IMG_0249.JPG [ 117.11 KiB | Viewed 7558 times ]
File comment: Somebody showed up with this 'barn find' 1956 Covette FUELIE (didn't think they offered those until '57). Car had cobwebs and grime on every surface of it. Must have been a recent discovery. FUEL INJECTION flags suggest Sebring competition for '56.

IMG_0250.JPG [ 118.12 KiB | Viewed 7559 times ]
File comment: The original Minicar, the Nash Metropolitan. The word "Metro" refers to city, which SHOULD have been a hint to keep these traffic hazards off the freeways back in the 50s. Didn't work, which is probably why there are so few of them left today.
IMG_0259.JPG
IMG_0259.JPG [ 108.95 KiB | Viewed 7559 times ]
File comment: Not sure what this car is, but it was made by Chevrolet so it probably isn't worth much today. Just an old used Chevy.
