So how was this past Monday?

Real good, Mike. Al Dempsey was there, as was Mike Rosann
(SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!!). The weather was really nice, not too hot
nor too cold, AND NO RAIN if you can believe that! I guess everyone
had gotten antsy due to the many rainouts, because the entire lot
was full (allowing Town Fair Tire a few spaces for their customers),
even overflowing further to the north beyond the entrance than usual,
to behind the Dairy Queen. A lot of newcomers were in attendance,
along with all the regulars. But no new Z's (not referring to age).

I swung up there tonight and met with 6 other cars (no Zs), who were pretty dismayed that it seems to have been shut down for the season.

I think I got to attend maybe three of these cruise-ins this whole year :?

Aw, Frank, if I woulda known! We were fixin' to go.

Pete and Vicki Struk (the couple with the pristine green '67 Cougar)
live just around the bend. Pete is one of the officers of the sponsoring
club, so he is involved in the setup for the events and always arrives
early. Well, I saw Pete coming home in his DD, but never saw (or
heard) the Cougar go out. So I called Vicki, and she said it was over
for the season. Whereupon we left the Z in the trailer till Wednesday.

I will look in the Special Interest section of Bargain News to see what
cruiZes are still going on that a bunch of us could still go to.

Last Monday I got up to the North Haven Cruise Night. There were over 100 cars there and an Elvis impersonator sang. Some good cars, including a few in the same row which were SUPERCHARGED or BLOWN. I talked with the owners who all agreed, the blower pushes air down the carb, the supercharger compresses air/fuel from the carb and forces it into the engine.
One guy had a 1957 McCulloch belt-driven "supercharger" on his Mustang which fit the 1957 Studebakers and Packards ("Packardbakers"), but we all agreed it was actually a blower. He was running about albs boost and 10:1 compression, which allowed him to spin the tires in any gear. He says he intends to shave the heads and increase the compression to 13:1 so I don't expect to ever see him back again with that car, since he'll probably blow the heads off it with that much compression and boost together.

I made my first Slide Show and it has most of the cars/engines I wanted to show on here. I just have to figure out how to transfer it from my computer to this website.

The final Cruise-in of the season is scheduled for Mon/30Sep. They are asking for all available cars to attend. Admission is free for cars and spectators. The Cruise has been moved to the opposite (North) end of the same (huge) parking lot, next to the Citizens Bank. GPS address is 117 Washington Ave, North Haven.

Can we get some Z's to the 30th cruize? If weather is decent I'll drive the
roadzter into Hamden that Mond. and run over after work. Frank, will you
be going?
Jack

BWT ... If you upload the slide show to You tube you can just post a link on the web site ..... easy to do.

Well, I regret the delay on this Slide Show, but much thanks to Ross for the step-by-step walk-thru tutorial. I had never done one of these before and I guess I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Duhh.

There were lots of other cars to be filmed that night, but I just shot the ones which had special interest to me. I eventually ran out of daylight.

Yes Jack, I intend to be up there on Mon/30Sep for the final Cruise-In of the season, weather permitting. I may even vacuum out my Z!

30Sep ~ final night of the season for this free event. Kicks off about 6:30P, ends about 9P, some cars leave after the 50/50 raffle (which is usually close to $200).

Frank, I did drive the roadzter to Hamden today so I'll see you there.
Buy you a cup of coffee.
I think they start at 5:30. I'll leave from exit 60 about 5:15 or so.
Where exactly is it going north on 15?
Jack

Best thing you can do coming from Hamden North on 15, is get off at Exit 63.
Turn right off the exit to the light, left onto Washington Blvd (heading North), and the north end of that huge shopping plaza on your left is your destination. We'll ask them to put all the Zs together.

Wish Phrog was here.

There's an unidentified silver 260 (neither of us could locate owner)
Wish more club cars could have been there to chat.

I enjoyed this final Cruise-In for the season. John, it was good to just sit with you and swap stories. Our Zs certainly drew some solid attention. It always makes me feel good when there is a field of 60-70 other cars, and a doZen people gather around the Zs and hang there for an hour, telling Z stories from their youth.

Seriously, we have the best collectible cars on the planet. 8)
