This was a memorable experience! I had morning obligations and couldn't leave until 10AM. Got lost enroute (followed Map Quest instructions, which took me OFF route 9 north, thru Poughkeepsie for some reason, then put me right back out onto route 9 north again) and arrived at 1PM. Drove around like a Wichita Lineman looking for Zs until I finally gave up and parked out in the back 40.

Inside I bumped into two ZANY members who directed me to the Z corral. On my way there I met Uncle Mike who was still wearing his 260Z cap altho he no longer owns one, and was trying to sell American Iron so he could afford to quickly buy another Z. He sent me to the other Z members and I got to spend roughly an hour with them before it was time to leave.

Well, "leave" isn't exactly descriptive of what I actually did. 'Park in line and wait to move for an hour' is more accurate. It was fun tho ~ my mile-long line to the exit was made up of outstanding show cars!

For those of you who have never experienced this event, it boarders on being indescribable. They predicted more than 30,000 show cars, and I didn't see many empty spaces. Even the Back 40 was filled with $50,000 street rods. Somewhere inside there was supposed to be an original GM Futurmobile, but I never found it.

I found everything else, tho. Just about every type of car you can name was represented there today. Tmrw is the day for classics and sports cars, but I have a church event and can't make it back.

On the way home the highway was filled with interesting cars from the fairgrounds, including a nice 350Z which diced with me for more than 20 miles.

I passed out a whole pocketful of Z Spotter cards, so we'll zee if anyone visits us here on the website.

Thanks guys, for recommending this. The 250 mile round-trip in the 240 on a perfect day was well worth the effort of getting there. Next year is a for-sure thing for me again, and Clive might even have his EVIL Z back together by then.

Frank

I can remember that about half a decade ago, I would be all alone with my Z at these events. It was VERY RARE to even see a Z at a car show. We have made great progress in the promotion of the brand. This is evidenced by the copious interest that our cars received from the spectators. Thanks NYZCC, CTZCC, ZANY, and anyone that dares to drive their Z, many hours, in the hot sun, with no A/C, into the unknown.

BTW Dave, I didn't get to hear your Z run, but if it sounds even HALF as good as it looks, you did a magnificent job on it.

hey scotty, the towns of hyde park and rhinebeck just informed me that they have a all points bulletin out for a sicko in a orange zcar that was passing everything in site going up rt.9g. they said that there were some cows that had heart attacks because of the noise and the wind sheer. oh, by the way, the old truck is now gone and delivered, so it looks like the hunt is on. gee, i wonder how much the evilz would cost??
