Hi everyone,

What a GREAT ZCCA Convention!!!

Took some pictures and met alot of wounderful people.

Monday three cars from ZCCNE left the convention at 7:30 AM and went to the Tail of the Dragon and had lunch at the Tree of Shame.
Then continued driving till 11:00 PM Monday night, to catch up with two other members at their hotel off I 81 in Northern VA.

Started out this morning at 6:30 and arrived in Southwick, MA at 5:00 PM tonight.

Hope to be able to join you later tomorrow night at the BBQ.

Great photowork by both of you guyz!

I spent the evening with Thor Link and his family and saw his notebook full of wonderful photos of the Z Con, too. His son Max had a great time and they were both full of stories about all the exciting experiences they had there.

Hope Rick and Kathy show up soon, too.....we're waiting to hear from them.

Gee....how many more CTZCC members were there that I don't know about. RIF, I do remember seeing you there, but didn't know you were a member. Of course the excitment threw things off. I did meet Rick and Cathy there, and we all just had a great time. Guys, so you know there is a site to goto and see your car or other Z cars at The Tail of the Dragon. Here's a few pics for Yall.

Paul, is the gentleman in your last picture having his name tag or tie arranged by the camera man the host of My Classic Car on the Speed Channel? Will the convention be covered in an upcoming show?

Also, no one has mentioned details of the Nissan factory tour....

Those guyz are standing in front of our member Vince Corry's incredible 1972 240Z, out of Georgia. That car appeared at our First Annual Z Car Show in Darien.

Yes to both questions. Dennis Gage

The ZCCA hosted 722 registered guests. The car show was around 400 cars and over 1,000 people. 523 people attended the awards banquet. I'll let Rick answer questions about his experience. He get's the "I'm jazzed" award from me. :D Her Majesty the 13th was on exhibit at the hotel all week.

Well, since I don't have cable, I didn't know who Dennis Gage was until the night before when he sat down at the hotel bar next to us. I just told him I dig his mustache, which was down at the time, he got a chuckle out of it. So after talking to Vince he came over for a film session, so now at the show I knew who he was, and he did quite a bit of filming.......future show maybe? I can at least watch it online now. Rick can tell his own story, but I can tell you he was over thrilled about the whole event. Here is Dennis again next to the oldest Z with the lowest original miles, 4,400.

WAIT ~ "oldest Z"??? How does that work?

The oldest Zs are in OUR Club, and this ain't one of them.

And if they're talking about 'earliest Z with fewest miles', Rick's #171 car probably has THAT beat, too! (1969 car w/fewer than 30,000mi).

Plz explain?

Frank

To paraphrase the immoral, I mean immortal Mike Engelhardt,
"We had a really lousy time, can we do this again next week?"

The little KLB110 way up at the top (Datsun 1200 hatchback) was
a significant memory for me. When my Bug got totaled and I was
discouraged because the price of the Bug had gone up significantly,
you would recall that that was the "cheap Japanese piece of tin" I
had in mind when I next went 3 miles up the street to the Datsun
dealer. I am so glad all the sales people were occupied when I
went in, because it gave me a few minutes to drool over "that
gorgeous, orange, $10,000 Ferrari-looking machine" over in the
left rear corner of the showroom. The one that gave me sticker
shock in reverse when I found it was a $3526 car, not a $10,000
car. The same cheap Japanese piece of tin that we still have to this
day, 40 years later.

Next, check out the neat Datsun fire truck owned by Dan Banks of
Baltimore. Dan is Bryan Little's counterpart, each of them having a
240-Z coupe, a baby X-months old (or should I say Z-months old),
and a lovely wife. Dan is also Carl Beck's counterpart in that each
of them is engaged in recording as much Z-history as possible for
us and our eventual successors to enjoy.

Following that are a couple of names that you will recognize. Peter
Brock (in the black neckerchief) and John Morton (the lefty with the
black cap) are among the names that helped establish the Datsun
reputation (especially the 510 and 240-Z) early on. I would ask for
help from the guys who were around in the '69 to '75 range, but I
would say that this team was the principal competition for the Bob
Sharp team. Or was it the other way around? I guess it depends
on which particular year you are talking about.

I forgot what comes next. Trust me, it has nothing to do with age.
Okay, so I'm not all that trustworthy.
