Yeah Keith, I see there is a 30% chance of showers for Sunday... Was looking forward to it but now my step grand daughter will be home this weekend for a visit, maybe it'll be rescheduled so I can go...

Hmm, let me see if I can convince the family to join me for the day. If I can, I will attend. I love planes and cars. This would be perfect...pending weather.

Once again the show is rescheduled due to a rainy forecast, now rescheduled to Sunday October 11th, these guys just can't catch a break to get their show in.... So far the 11th is clear on my schedule, lets hope for clear skies on that weekend.......

WELLLLL, It's finally on for this coming Sunday, October 11th... I've been looking forward to this one for so long now and it's actually going to take place ... Their site says they would like the show cars on the field by 9am and the show starts at 10.. It runs until 4pm. NOAA shows a cool am with temps in the 30's, will only warm up to 62, so dress accordingly, hopefully we have some CTZCC representation there....... $10 bucks to show your car....... Gentleman, start yer ingines.....

This truly was an Event and well worth the wait, quite a remote location on a hilltop with a grass covered runway.. Planes were in and out all day, buzzing the air strip at low level, formation flying and breakaways with smoke trailing, beautiful antiqe aircraft, biplanes, military trainers, this one gorgeous twin motor glistening aluminum 8 passenger that was my show stopper landed and stayed for a couple of hours... Great mix of cars in attendance and also a nice group of folks attending the show and displaying cars....... There were 2 of us reps for the CTZCC, Frank you would have LOVED the flyers...

Wow Tom, how come your camera takes better pictures than mine does??? Great shots of all the wheels and wings!

Your favorite silver beauty is a Beechcraft "EXPEDITOR" ("B-18"), made from 1936 into the 1940s. The USAF used them into the 1960s. It had twin 450hp P&W engines and carried 6 passengers and a crew of two. The brakes have been changed, tho ~ the original B-18 had both brake calipers on the left side of each wheel. These planes were direct competitors with Lockheed's famous ELECTRA series. They were the platform which evolved into (and thru) the Super-18, "Sky King's" aircraft from the 1950s TV show. (Maybe it reminds you of Sky King and Penny, from your youth!)

Here ya go ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHR7miQ8 ... re=related

The Biplane is the famous Stearman "YELLOW PERIL" Navy trainer. It was used prior to and all thru WWII to teach basic aviation to new USN and USMC pilots. They were almost as tough as the WACO planes, but cheaper to repair when crashed (a daily occurrence).

Here's a nice one doing some low-level aerobatics:

The nifty red hi-wing closed cabin monoplane is (probably) an early Cessna C-34 "AIRMASTER", made in the 1930s. Wouldn't want to land one looking thru those tiny side windows!

Here's an early example, without the engine fairing or wheel boots, and with the earlier rugged landing struts:

and here's one you can have! :D

I was still out of town when this event took place....so my Dad and Mom took the Z up to Sherman and had a great day. From my Dad, the elder Colin:

"We took the Z up yesterday to the Wings and Wheels show, absolutely incredible. It was just one of those events where you don't know what to look at first.

We got there by 9:30, foliage and weather were beautiful. Picnic basket in the back, great. Tom was the one other Z there."

Cheers,
Colin

Darn, last minute change of priorities had me miss this one. I am so bummed now looking at the photos. I love planes as much, if not more than cars.

Here is my RC Spitfire.
