Well, even though the turnout was light, we still had lots of fun at the club meeting at Grossman Nissan. Six Z cars showed up and we still managed to put a big dent in the pizzas that Grossman had provided. As always, they have been generous supporters of our club so a big THANKS goes out to them. Their master mechanic proudly showed us his pristine Austin Healy Sprite which, when compared to our Z cars, looked almost toy-like. Very cool car! It was also fun hanging out with the Grossman staff.

I managed to take a few pictures during the event. Enjoy!

I've got a lot of miles and one very hairy accident in a '59 A-H BugEye Sprite. During an unauthorized "pre-lubricated" ( ) practice and course-familiarization run for New York's upcoming Onondaga County Hogsback Hillclimb one cold night, my best bud John spun his BugEye on some black ice while I served as his Navigator and ballast. We spun several times before backing into a stone country wall with considerable force. I saw it coming in SloMo and ducked down into the "cellar" and pushed up on the dash with all my adrenaline strength. We survived. In fact, the worst of our injuries occurred when our heads met inside the car at the moment after impact; our "second collision".

The rear of the Sprite was smashed flat against the rear wheels; there's nothing back there but empty cargo space, anyway, and the little 950cc had enough power to flatten the entire rear of the car all the way up to the rear axle.

8 of us guys spent nearly an hour in the cold night, prying the bodywork away from the moving parts with tire irons, and the little BugEye was rolling under its own power again. John spent Friday rigging new tail lights and on the weekend he ran the car in the hillclimb.

He didn't win, but he sure got a lot of attention paid to his car.

Thanks for the pictures John!

Yes, there was a lighter turnout than normal, I believe since we were not able to send the usual reminder email prior to the meeting. Both webmaster Jim Hagani and myself were traveling the prior week, so I will work with Jim to put in place some "process improvement" to make sure that we can send a reminder email at least a week before the last meeting of the season, which is going to be at Executive Nissan on October 18.
