Another great meeting of the Connecticut Z Car Club!! A hardy thanks to the ownership and staff at Grossman Nissan who have always been a great host to the CTZCC.

It was wonderful to meet a few new members.

A special "thank you" to CTZCC President John Kish for all he has done during his tenure. John, your efforts are very much appreciated!

Attached are photos of the last nights CTZCC meeting at Grossman Nissan.

Great ending to another CTZCC season!

I want to thank Linda Grossman, Shelby Hill, Cody and the entire staff of Grossman Nissan for hosting this last meeting of the season. I also want to thank all of our members for supporting and attending these past meetings.

Thanks to Egils and Patricia Vigants for sharing the information on the incredible artists who add to the excitement of owning a Z car.

Thanks to Big Al for bringing in those posters and the members who contributed to adding to the club kitty.

Thanks to Brandon and Jessica for looking into club merchandise opportunities.

Special thanks go to Ross Williams, Jim Hagani, Frank Thomas, Alan Dempsey, Paul Jensen and Phil Parent for their continued support and friendship.

I look forward to working with our new club president, Juan Marcos, to help him make the 2023 season even better!

Hopefully we get to see some of you on a few fun runs before the snow flies. Please check and contribute to the club website to help keep the club moving forward.

Cheers!

Last night's meeting was the perfect way to end the season and John's tenure as club prez.

Everything, including the weather, was perfect. We had far and away the best turnout we've ever had at Grossman, a testament to John's vision and leadership.

Thanks of course to Linda Grossman for hosting us, for Cody B. for a terrific and highly informative presentation, David B. for making us feel welcome (and for modelling a cool Z shirt) and all the other wonderful people on the Grossman team.

Special thanks, again, to Prez. John for all the hard work he's done over the past two seasons to rescue, revive and revitalize the club from its long slumber.

Wishing everyone a good off-season - see you in 2023!

- Jim

As a follow up to the discussions about the Paul Newman painting that Egils Vigant had discussed during our meeting, I contacted the artist Chris Osborne via her website (ChrisOart.com) to thank her for providing the "postcard" copies of that work which were distributed to our attending club members. Of course, I complimented her on her incredible talent for accurately capturing the man and his machine. She emailed back a delightful noter thanking me for contacting her and included this picture of her, the painting and our own Bob Sharp at Lime Rock. She was very excited to later sell this painting to new owners of Lime Rock.

For those interested in her artwork, I suggest you go to her website and take a look at some of her other work. I particularly love the painting she did of Janis Joplin standing next to her psychedelic Porsche 356. So cool!

In my recollection, JJ never looked that healthy. Her constant diet of booZe and drugs kept her looking pretty beat-up. But Lawd, could that woman sing the Blues! "Cry, cry, baby" keeps ringing in my head, and "Take another little piece of my heart" sometimes helps me drive long distance.

It's been 52 years since we lost JJ...is that possible?!

Jess!
OUTSTANDING!

Will you guyz consider generating a small catalog of Merch ready in time for Christmas, or is already too late in the Zeason to hope for that this year?
I recogniZe that at this point in time, every order will have to be custom fit and made. But the cool springtime will bring a definite market for this stuff.

Remember, we are a FREE CLUB. We charge no membership dues and everything we receive as members is paid for by donations. The old MerchandiZe sales used to help us afford many activities which we otherwiZe could not have enjoyed.

In past years the Club Kitty fronted a specific dollar amount for our MerchandiZe Director (Keith Hultmark) to work with. Thru his contacts with printers and embroiderers, Keith had stuff made in various sizes from that investment which he brought to each meeting to sell to us. Our Club Treasurer, Ross Williams MBA, kept a small, steady investment budget ready for Keith's use as needed, and recorded all expenditures. Keith's sales, at a small profit, replaced the investment and slowly built our Kitty so we could afford to show the Club members and their families a better and better time at each meeting and event (while looking better and better each meeting!)

Nobody made any individual profit from it; it's strictly a volunteer job. Every nickel went back into the Kitty for the betterment of the Club. We also had a very good Club Graphic Artist (Mike Tubiack) who created really professional work and kept upgrading our Club logo, designing event T-shirts, Z Spotter Cards, etc, all for free. Mike also did several custom show-boards for various members' Z cars, at the individual owners' expense.

MerchandiZe sales represented a substantial source of income to the CTZCC Kitty, and many members bought items for their family as Christmas and birthday gifts.

The Club went dormant thru the entire Covid period, until John Kish stepped up and voluntarily became PreZident for 2021-2022, so there was no income at all for the Club Kitty for a long time.

Alas! Keith got married, sold his Z, and we hear from him infrequently. Our great old CTZCC creations have worn down over the years and most are threadbare now. Mike went legally blind and could no longer design or drive. He sold his "Dangerous Z" and we hear from him only occasionally. So, some of the excellent Club merchandiZe you see today is a decade+ old, and the Club Kitty has spent most of the profit from these dedicated members' free efforts. There is definitely a void to fill if you can help.

I would recommend a casual meeting with you two, Incoming PreZident Juan Marcos, Treasurer Ross Williams, Past PreZidents Jim Hagani, Phil Parent and, (if possible) our old MerchDir Keith Hultmark over dinner, to discuss how we can help you pick up the torch and provide us with a successful MerchandiZe program. I would volunteer to help set that up, and pay for your meal.

Picture me standing in long and loud applause for your interest in helping us with this important project. Thank you both!

Frank T
MbrShpDir, Emeritus.

Hello everyone, I hated to miss this last meeting of the year, but I was In Florida for the last 3 weeks, just got back. Last week I brought my 83 ZX from Palm Beach where it has been in storage for the last year and a half to my new house still under construction in North Florida.

Looking forward to next year, I have to do some planning and will keep everyone informed for the events. Thanks for the opportunity to serve.
